Beschreibung

Come stay in the beautiful mountain town of Lead, SD just 5 minutes from Deadwood and 30 minutes from Sturgis and an hour from sites like Mt Rushmore. Hiking, biking, skiing, wine tasting, science, art and gambling. Guests are provided with locally sourced wine, beer coffee and eggs when available.

This beautiful craftsman home was built in 1934 in the historic mountain town of Lead, SD. It is our family home but we are happy to share it with visitors during the summer when we are out of school and away. There are provisions (crates and fenced yard) for pets and it is a child friendly home with art supplies, games, toys and baby supplies.

Guests have access to the entire house and access to amenities like a secluded back yard with a fire pit and a barbecue, bicycles, etc. There is wifi, a PS4, movies, board games, a fully stocked kitchen and more. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the front deck after exploring the Black Hills. There is a greenhouse and garden. Guests are welcome to any of the produce growing on the property. There is a hose for cleaning and ample garage parking for bikes.

That is up to the guest. Minimum would be a meet and greet at the beginning of the stay and at the end. We are happy to provide guests with maps and resources to explore the Black Hills. We also provide locally sourced coffee, wine and beer for our guests upon request. If you would like a guided tour we can arrange that as well.

The neighborhood is peaceful, faces south with lots of sunshine and is surrounded by trees. The view is spectacular, especially during sunrise. The neighbors are friendly and it is close to Main Street in Lead, walking distance to the Historic Homestake Lead Opera House and the Roundhouse Homestake Chop House.

No public transportation. There are taxis and limited trolley service from Deadwood which is only 3 miles away if you want to hit the casinos. A rental car or motorcycle is recommended. All wheel drive or 4WD is recommended in the winter. Skiing and snow mobiling is within 10 minutes of the house.

Lead is in the northern Black Hills and is a historic gold mining town. It is now home to a state of the art underground research facility, where researchers are searching the universe for dark matter among other things. Lead is close to Deadwood and Sturgis and an hour from Mt. Rushmore. The Black Hills are an amazing place to visit.

Charming, fun home. We had the house to ourselves since Bree and her family were out. We had a great stay, and there was more than enough room for the six of us. Bree is a great host and was very response to questions. She also had good recommendations for the area and offered-up her bikes to our kids to use. We loved that the house was filled with music instruments. Lead is a quiet, nice mountain town as well as a good location for exploring the area (Spearfish, Mount Rushmore, Badlands, etc.). We just happened to go into the visitor center. Don't miss it! The history of the town as a gold mining area turned major national lab studying neutrinos and dark matter is fascinating. Lead is a bit farther out, but you get away from the tourist hustle and bustle. Worth it.

We live in the Black Hills of South Dakota in a beautiful town called Lead (Leed). We have two daughters, one grown and the other is nine, two teenage sons and another child on the way! We've lived overseas and traveled extensively. We are educators, teaching science and music. We have two dogs, two cats and some fish. The animals go with us in the summer when we rent out our house (except the fish)!
