We stayed for three nights for the Fringe and it was a terrific base for us to explore the city and get from show to show. The location really is superb; you are no more than fifteen minutes' walk from all the main locations, with George Square a stone's throw away. We really felt we were in the heart of the Fringe. The flat was very modern, on the ground floor so very easy access. Quite compact, but there are all the basics i.e. kitchen, sofa, decent size bedroom etc with storage space. Generally, it was clean, but i did feel that some parts were due a good dusting and a hoover, but it wasn't to the point where we felt uncomfortable. A couple of extra amenities wouldn't go a miss either e.g. shower gel and we had some issues with the boiler, meaning intermittent hot water, but we could temporarily fix this by restarting the boiler and I'm sure this will get sorted quickly. It wasn't the cheapest (even with Fringe, location and summer holidays in mind), but if location is very important to you, which it was for us, then you can't ask for a better place to stay.
Modern flat, small but comfortable and in an excellent location next to the Meadows. Very convenient for eats and drinks nearby, as well as the George Square Spiegeltent if you're in town during one of the festivals. Towels and bed linen all seemed brand new, although the mattress was a bit too springy/soft for my ageing back. Alex's pal Neil met me at check-in and showed me the "knack" of shutting the door, which was no big deal. Very quiet location - I hardly heard a sound apart from neighbours coming and going in the morning.
We arrived later than expected due to delays on our flight from London. Alexander was really accommodating and made us feel that it hadn't been a problem. The location is really good for the Edinburgh Festival because you are really close to George Square and Bristo Place. There are on-going building works around the location and we struggled to find our way through the diversions to Simpson Loan but once there it was great. There are lovely cafes very close by and we really enjoyed just strolling to all of the festival venues. The accommodation is very simple and comfortable which easily met our needs.
Neil met us at the flat and explained the knack of opening the front door, however we had an issue closing it from the inside, this was checked and a workaround provided. The flat is in a great location for the Ed. Fringe, it's pretty clean with plenty of storage and provided us with everything we needed.
