Über dieses Inserat

Charming, cozy house close to the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota--pass through farm fields daily, therefore, while still in the city. Bus easily to either downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul from here-or inter-campus bus to Mpls campus.

Der Wohnraum

This is a second story dormer bedroom with view of the ample backyard, trees and garden. It includes a double bed, desk, closet and bathroom across the hall. This house was built by the host's father in 1952. It retains much of its retro flair. Two upstairs bedrooms are part of AirBnB. The room opens to a hall, off of which are the half-bath and another north-facing room. The stair landing is a little sitting room with couch and TV (basic cable only.) AC window units upstairs. No central air. Windows on the ground floor are open to the garden in the summer! But there are a few hot weeks in Minnesota, so if this is not to your taste, please be aware. During those weeks the upstairs is cooler than the main floor. Also, the ground level shower/bath are shared by guests and host/family (so 2-4 people), but your upstairs half-bath would be shared only if the second room were booked, too.

Zugang für Gäste

Access to kitchen, dining and living rooms, yard and screened porch in summer. Laundry, too, in the basement and bicycle storage in the garage.

Interaktion mit Gästen

Friendly, but honor independence of my guests.

I stayed with Jean for 2 nights. I'm still fairly new to Airbnb but Jean's home was everything I expected. Jean was very welcoming and answered my questions with suggestions on local restaurants & public transportation. I was in town for a sporting event at the University of Minnesota and Jean's home was the perfect location.

Jean is definitely the poster child for " Minnesota nice" in a very complimentary way. Was a great stay. Thanks Jean!

My experience at Jean's was very friendly and nice, her place is very clean and the view is amazing. She was very kind and helpful. It was truely a home away from home experience.

Jean was a great host and she makes a mean coffee. The home is set in a lovely neighborhood and has a charming garden. It was a very convenient for getting around the Twin Cities, especially St. Paul.

There is a certain group of people in this world who's personalities are just genuinely nice, caring, welcoming, happy, and passionate about life. These people seem to be rare, but Jean is one of those people. She was incredibly welcoming and warm, friendly and helpful. She has a beautiful home and I feel sincerely lucky to have met her as I was moving to Saint Paul. I would recommend starting here to everyone!

I love running, cross-country skiing, and canoeing, my three fabulous adult children, amazing friends, the north woods and north shore of Minnesota, books and writing. But there's more!--Colombia and Ecuador are dear to my heart, yet one of my favorite places on earth is my hammock on my back back porch. I pretty much live out there all summer--as if it were a cabin, accessible by passing through a door. Magic! I eat my oatmeal out there every morning in the summer, and read (with the birds.)

I lived in Colombia for a year when I was fifteen, and the hospitality and ardor of my Colombian friends changed me forever. If I could I would travel up and down the spine of the Andes by bus, taking in the mountains, the people, the food, the music and passion. Being open and welcoming is what I wish to offer my guests, too. I love connections, people and living fully. I also have Scandinavian roots, and here in Minnesota we generalize that this gives us a bit too much reserve. This is why I say "Colombia saved me" at a tender age. Nevertheless, I also honor my guests' independence and need for privacy and autonomy.

I do have a secret life motto: live poetically. How cheesy--but it's so good!
