Beschreibung

Self-catering double room in artist's studio on quiet street in trendy Harefield Village, Cape Town, with kitchenette, en suite bathroom with shower and separate entrance looking onto a guest's garden. Close to UCT, Newlands Forest and Cape Town cbd.

The space is truly unique, filled with the art and curios that John has collected over the 17 years that he has lived in the house. You can explore John's own ceramic collection... all of the art that you see is available for sale. Please speak to us about any pieces that interest you. The room and house has wooden parquet throughout and is tastefully decorated. The garden is lush and green with hidden ceramic works, and little surprises.

Your bedroom has it's own kitchenette and eating area, en suite bathroom with shower and armchair with reading nookwith a wise range of books and magazines.

The kitchenette has microwave and grill, toaster, a single plate stove, a range of beautiful ceramic ware and the essentials needed to cook a good meal.

You have a separate entrance, with a sliding door onto a secure and quiet garden dedicated to guests with table and chairs, and an unusual outdoor fireplace.

You're also welcome to view the ceramic gallery. Please ask us to take a look.

John is a ceramicist and artist who works from a studio located on the same property, and so is available most of the day.

He has lived in the area for most of his life and so is fountain of knowledge of interesting things to do and unusual local information.

There are often other artist who visit the studio that you can meet. On Wednesdays, ceramic students arrive for classes. You are welcome to join the class from 9 am to 13.00 pm for a discounted rate.

Harfield Village is a popular and well-known community in Claremont. It's close enough to the larger business in Claremont for convenience, but offers a smaller community with a main road lined with excellent restaurants and shops.

Once a year, the main road of Harfield Village, is filled with art and street food with it's annual festival.

The micro-brewery scene is well-represented... and a Harfield beer tastes better when in Harfield.

The train station is a 8-10 minute walk away and links guest to Cape Town central (a few stops away). The opposite direction, the train takes you to seaside exploration, with surfing in Muizenburg, the bohemian life in Kalk Bay and penguins in Simon's Town.

We are a 5 minutes from the hub of Harfield Village with it's coffee shops, bistros and other interesting shops and restaurants.

We're a 15 minute walk from the well-known Cavendish shopping area with a range of high-end shops.

We're a 15 minute drive from the center of Cape Town. We recommend Uber Taxi as a reliable and cost-effective way for getting around.

There is one on-site secure parking space available at a cost of R50 a night, however, guests are asked to please reserve the space. Please speak to us to check availability?

Please note that although we're listed as a Bed & Breakfast, due to the number of rooms available, we do not serve breakfast.

Please take care of the art (particularly if you have children). The house is filled with valuable art, which is for sale.

Please also do not smoke inside the house. There is easy access to the garden outside with comfortable seating, for a cup of tea and cigarette.

We're a quiet B&B - we're artists who live quiet and healthy life. Please respect this by not playing loud music or making noise before 7am or after 9pm (we occasionally have dinners with artists that guests are welcome to join, which may continue until around 10.30pm).

Otherwise, please take care of the property as if it were your own and show consideration for other guests.

I'm a ceramic artist and well-known Cape Town figure - the rooms in my B&B are named after some of the giants in the pottery world, upon which my dwarf-self now stands.

I'm also known for being an inventor. It's my joy and pleasure to create space for visitors to my gallery, studio and B&B to enjoy thoughts and flights of fancy.

I can't live without porcelain clay, pots of exotic tea and new ideas. And I'll regale you with stories of the unknown, unusual world facts and advice on just about anything under the sun.

I'm well connected with the sub-cultures of Cape Town - should you have an extraordinary social needs, I am able to make an introduction :)

Speak to me about my Cape Town ceramic tours, we visit the studios of some of Cape Town's finest potters. Or for street art join a Coffee Beans Route's tour, which I often lead.

I look forward to your arrival...
