We had a nice stay with Buntheourn and his family. The rooms were clean and the beds nice and soft. Buntheourn was really friendly and helpful. Oh and his wife cooks great food! Would recommend to eat dinner at home :)

We stayed here for 1 month and couldn't have felt more comfortable! We were a group of 4 girls and had 2 rooms with an en-suite bathroom each and a connecting door. The rooms are spacious and we even got mosquito nets for the beds as we slept with the doors open. :) thank you very much! We chose this location as it was close to our project we volunteered for during summer. It takes you 30 mins to the city center by tuktuk. If you stay here you HAVE to join Noranne's dinner! It was the best cambodian food we had! Thank you so much for our awesome stay at Phnom Penh and especially making it so wunderful! It really felt like home!

We had wonderful time at Christines place. Unfortunately she wasn't at home, but we met the other people who are living in the house. They were warm and friendly, remarkebly helpful and always available. Buntheourn is the best tuktuk driver we met in 2 months traveling around asia. The rooms are charming, clean, spacious and well equipped. On our last night we had a dinner with the whole family which was delicious and a nice experience!

Nice place, and nice people. If you want to experience Khmer life it's a perfekt place to go. It's far from all the touristic areas in Phnom Penh, which makes it special.

Well Christine was a pleasant enough host, we did not really have the opportunity for much interaction. While we appreciate her efforts in getting our booking cancelled for the month of June after much confusion with Airbnb. We did not book for the month of June, but that was sorted out in the end. However, there are issues that need to be addressed for future guests. Firstly, Christine likes to call it a donation, which it is not. We were paying guests. I do think that if you are going to have a curfew, then at the very least, this should be advertised? We were locked out on numerous occasions and stood outside making calls to try and get in. Stood out there for an hour and a half to get let in, only after the people living on the top floor came down to let us in. The place is locked up tighter than Fort Knox and not always at the same time. We were given keys to get in and out, but for what reason I don't know. There are two locks on the main gate and another lock further in which is not necessary. After being locked out the first time, arriving just after 22h00. The second time, I went to great length asking them not to put the top pad lock on, as it is impossible to reach from the outside. This problem could be easily solved if the top lock was not put on. I do not even see the reason for two locks, it's impossible to get in with just the one lock. Both locks are on the inside of these really huge iron gates. We could have opened the bottom lock with little fuss and there would have been no need for this gripe. For the sake of future paying guests please address this issue. As I said, we are not donors supporting a charity but paying guests and expect to be treated as such. Do you really think that there's a need for a curfew ? Your guests are adults and should be treated as such. We were locked out a further two times, both before 22h00 ... ridiculous. It's not as if we could just ring the bell and be let in, we did ring the bell but To no avail and stood around in the dark for over an hour yet again. It is not just us who were inconvenienced but other guests too. One of the other guests could not actually get in and were forced to find accommodation elsewhere! If this sounds like a rant, it's because it is! Or am I being unfair. Then we get to the electricity power cuts, which are regular. More confusing was the fact that the cuts were only isolated to certain floors in the house, with the rest of the power in the surrounding neighbourhood being on. This particular night being after we were stranded outside for an hour and a...

Dear Michelle and Michael I am so very sorry that you did not tell me about the things that were bothering you during your stay at our home because they could easily have been rectified and/or explained. We did our best to make you welcome during your time with us; looked after your things whilst you traveled about Cambodia (your room was always ''yours'' at no extra charge) and, though your original booking was until the end of June, allowed you to change the booking when you moved to your permanent apartment here in Phnom Penh. Your donation to the house is appreciated - thank you for staying with us. Our house is not a guesthouse - it is a homestay. Eight Cambodians and, at the moment, 4 foreigners consider it their home. We host mostly young people from all over the world who are volunteering in Cambodia and who enjoy living with a family. Most people who stay with us do not book through Airbnb. Everyone contributes to the house according to their income or according to how long they plan to stay. Nightly contributions are the most expensive - at $15 a night - but for a room which can host up to 3 people - even this is a nominal charge. We do not make a profit - we exist to serve Cambodia. All donations go towards the running costs of the house (which includes employment for 3 unskilled Cambodians) and any surplus is used to support poor families, who we know, in health, education and housing. We are active in the community helping and giving wherever we can. We do not have a curfew at the house but we ask everyone (including myself) who may stay out after 10pm, to communicate with us - so we do not lock them out. Security is a huge issue in Cambodia especially in a place where foreigners are seen to be coming and going. We are knowledgeable and therefore vigilant about security and our guests can feel comfortable that they, and their belongings, are safe at the house. There is always someone in the house to help with any issue - and to let any guests, who may not know how to use their keys, open the gates at any time. We generally share phone numbers which helps us to communicate with each other. Power cuts are a normal part of living in Cambodia, particularly during the hot season, but do not usually last for very long. Kind regards Christine
