Give yourself the gift of staying on a private beach in one of the most beautiful locations in the world.

This charming, rustic house is sided with hand-split cedar shakes. Inside, it is spacious and sunny. The open plan downstairs allows for a pleasant flow of spaces. It has a fully equipped kitchen and a dining room with an amazing view.

A special feature of the house is that as well as the main house there is the attached annex with its light-filled sunroom. The main house and annex allow for separation for two parties or two families who are sharing the rental.

The two newly remodeled bathrooms in the house offer modern fixtures. There is one bathroom in the main house and one in the annex, affording privacy for two parties sharing the house. The main house bathroom offers both a shower and a tub. The annex bathroom provides a shower with built-in seat.

Upstairs in the main house there is a queen bed in the master bedroom. The smaller upstairs bedroom has both a queen bed and a single bed.

The entire upstairs of the annex is a spacious bedroom with a queen sized bed, a rocking chair and a loveseat. Both the main house master bedroom and the annex bedroom have spectacular views.

This is a comfortable Alaskan family house that offers all the amenities you need for an enjoyable stay. The primary attraction of the house is its location on a private beach many think is the most beautiful in the Haines area.

We offer you an experience that is unique in today's world: serenity.

Children enjoy the opportunity to play with the frisbee and balls provided and run barefoot on the large lawn. You can also sit in the comfortable deck chairs on the lawn and enjoy the view, or barbecue outdoors using the large Weber grill. Beyond the lawn you can sit around the campfire circle on your own secluded beach, toast marshmallows, and watch for the marine mammals that swim in to the bay - seals, sea lions, our resident otters, porpoise, and even whales.

You can pursue any of a wide variety of outdoor activities. You can fish from the beach in front of the house. If you bring your own sea kayak or rent one from a local company, you can launch from the beach in front of the house and paddle down the peninsula to Chilkat Islands Marine Park.

Indoors, the spotting scope and binoculars provided invite you to notice the wildlife outside your windows. You can check your email or surf the web using the WiFi, or watch a DVD on one of the house's two television sets. Television programming is not available, but the house is provided with a large collection of movies and more may be checked out in town. The well-stocked bookshelves offer an eclectic variety of reading material. You can enjoy the puzzles and board games available in the house.

We live nearby and are available to answer questions and offer suggestions of places to explore and area activities.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD: The Extreme Dreams gallery is a short walk from the Paradise Cove House and displays for view and purchase the work of a diverse group of local artists.

The Chilkat State Park is a five minute drive from the Paradise Cove House, and offers some of the area's best hiking trails as well as a boat launch ramp.

The quiet roads with little traffic are perfect for carefree bicycling, and there are many routes on rougher tracks where mountain biking can be enjoyed.

HAINES: The Paradise Cove House is about 6 miles from downtown Haines. Haines is a small community at the head of the Inside Passage. The town is surrounded by mountains rising up to 7,000 feet above the fjord.

In town there is an amazingly good library that was named the Best Small Library in America by the Library Journal in 2005. Free Internet service and an extensive collection of books, magazines and DVDs are available at the library.

Haines has an excellent small museum that provides the visitor with a good sense of the history of the area, and offers shows of work by local artists.

The Chilkat Center for the Arts in the historic Port Chilkoot area of town offers a variety of performances sponsored by the Haines Arts Council.

The town of Haines affords all the facilities needed for a stay in the area: grocery stores, including Mountain Market, an organic food store and cafe; restaurants; a laundromat; a bank with an ATM; medical services at the clinic; and shops selling outdoor equipment and local arts and crafts.

Haines hosts the Southeast Alaska State Fair in late July, with live music, displays of regional garden produce and animals, programs and rides for kids. Year-round the fairgrounds are home to galleries, a restaurant and the award winning Haines Brewing Company micro-brewery.

THE AREA: There are lakes in the area where you can go canoeing or kayaking, gliding silently by the banks where you may see moose or even bears. The valley's rivers offer rafting and river kayaking opportunities. And you can launch your sea kayak from the beach at the Paradise Cove House.

Fishing for salmon or Dolly Varden Arctic char in season is readily accessible on the fjords, the Chilkat and Chilkoot Rivers, and the lakes. Fishing charters are available.

Local tour guides offer biking, hiking, sea-kayaking, river rafting and wildlife-viewing tours.

Whether you like hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, or just relaxing in a comfortable chair and enjoying the long, late light, spring, summer, and fall are a perfect time to visit.

If you think you want to drive to the pass in Canada - an hour's drive from Haines - to see the spectacular scenery and (in season) the flowers in the alpine there, that would require bringing your passports.

You can search the Internet for 'Haines Adventure Capital of Alaska' to find the web site that gives information on area activities. You can also contact the Haines Visitor Information Center for information about area activities and car rentals. They're knowledgeable and will be happy to help you set up all the experiences you'd like to have during your stay.

You will need a car to explore the area and to get to town, the airport, or the ferry terminal.

Der Check-in ist nach 16:00.

This is a waterfront home and visitors swim at their own risk.

This is a non-smoking house. If you enjoy smoking, you may do so outside.

Parking is limited to two (2) vehicles.

Your hosts live on Paradise Cove a few minutes' walk from the Paradise Cove House. We enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities available here. This is our home base, but we travel widely to both remote rural places and bustling, cosmopolitan cities. We like gaining the perspective travel gives us on our home and our way of living.
