The house is located in the quietest and most peaceful corner of the Old City. The property is located on a residential street with very little vehicular traffic and NO noise from jukeboxes and bar activity . There are only 10 residences and 3 larger condominiums located on "Caleta de las Monjas not including the Governor's mansion which borders this street. The presence of a police barracks attached to the Governor's Mansion gives this corner of OSJ a special tranquility and security

If you are looking for Old San Juan, this is the place. The apartment was spacious and perfect for a family of four. It was close to restaurants and simply amazing views. Lourdes and Peter were great hosts from check in to a late check out (thank you).... I parked over near the university so plan to drop off your suit cases first and then go park. Would return again for sure....

This house is too charming, facing the sea, five minutes from the scenic area. Homeowners are still in the area to find a way to find parking spaces, really is a good landlord. This is the first time I travel in the Spanish region, very happy to meet such a good house and the landlord.

The view from this place has to be the best in Old San Juan. The location is unbeatable. The house is old and has a lot of charm but definitely needs some work. I didn't rent it expecting anything fancy but I did expect it to live up to the description. Unfortunately it did not. The washing machine was out of order, the back bedroom did not have a screen on the window resulting in over 30 mosquito bites the first night and my sister having to sleep on the sofa, the floors were dusty and the back bathroom leaked whenever someone used the shower. I would not recommend this for a family. I would not have more than 4 people stay here as the back bedroom which should sleep 2 is unusable. The back patio was not clean, the vegetation was overgrown and full of mosquitos and other bugs so we could not use it. Peter and Lourdes were very nice hosts and were accommodating to our check out needs. I hope all of these issues are fixed because the place is really great. It just needs some work.

Antwort von Lourdes And Peter:
We apologize to Edith for the check in delay on arrival and for the washing machine whose spin cycle was absent . Ditto for the leak in the back bedroom which unfortuneately was informed to us on departure . It was an easy caulk repair and we regret not having had the opportunity to take care of it during her stay . Regarding the patio complaints, the mangos were falling from the huge tree which extends over our patio during Edith’s stay. In addition , part of the tree was in the budding and early mango phase. . Strong winds and some rain on the 2nd day helped to produce a large amount of debris from above consisting of leaves , buds , small branches and both ripe and smaller green mangos. The mango tree produces in our estimate around 400 mangoes which fall into our patio almost 2x a year and they fall for about 3 weeks for each harvest. And intensely for about 2 weeks. So this –mangos falling is something which is not a problem 10 months out of 12. The patio was however swept clean of all tree debris hours before arrival which is what we have to do and was certainly” useable” on arrival despite some staining from tree buds. . We do keep a large squeegee along with a large broom in the patio and which can be used to quickly push mangos and leaves into 1 of the corners of the patio . We will in the future offer to collect the mangoes when they are falling heavily and actually appreciate the opportunity since they have a very short shelf life ; lots of people like them and they will attract fruit flies if their skin breaks on falling to the patio as Edith has noted. It only takes a couple of minutes to get this done. Lastly like the patio we do not deliver an apartment with dusty floors since we always give the floors a last minute mopping precisely because almost the entire front of the house is open though screened and the constant wind will bring in dust and particulate matter especially if there are several cruise ships moored 8 blocks away. We have always been aware of this. Like the patio the condition of the floor can change within hours depending on conditions. We will soon have a brief questionnaire to be filled out on arrival --with the emphasis on arrival --- re , floors /surface areas kitchen, bathroom and patio .along with towels and linens . The wooden louvered door in the 3rd bedroom which once opened to a spiral staircase which no longer exists , is now completely covered with a screen from the outside for the time being. There was always a screen on the large window in this very small 3rd bedroom(URL HIDDEN)

Peter was fantastic to work with and was very helpful with getting us situated. Very safe and scenic location; lots of shops and restaurants within a few hundred meters. One note: if you rent a car- rent a small car and be prepared to search for parking. The garage near the art school is reasonable and is around $25.00/24-hr. Thanks Peter and Lourdes, your place was awesome!

Wonderful location to discover Old San Juan! Limited on-street parking for non-residents so check out parking lots/garage locations or specific recommendations from Peter in advance of arrival. 24/7 garage on Calle de Luna is about a 3 block walk away.
