Aix best Museums and remarqable streets are just one or two blocks around the building in the same neighbourhoud: Musee Granet (URL HIDDEN) Musee Caumont (URL HIDDEN) etc. Try to walk around and get lost, Aix is very small and you will enjoy best like that.
Shopping for food is good on "rue d'Italie" which is 100 m away (at the end of our street), there are great small shops (bakery, butcher, organic shop etc.), or the Monoprix department store on Cours Mirabeau which delivers for free (registration card with the key chain) and is only 200 m away. Market day is on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in the morning up to 1 pm. on Place des Precheurs for fresh vegetables, fruits, local products etc.
Acces by car is easy, you can exit the highway at either “Aix Centre” or Aix Pont de l’Arc which is relatively shorter distance to the appartement. Aix old city center has a small Circular road around which and the appartement can be easily accessed from it at the Roi Rene Boulevard section.
If you arrive by public transport either from the TGV station or the airport, the shuttle bus will stop at Aix Bus station which is 15/20 m walking distance to the apartment but I am sure there are city buses to the apartment. If decide to take the city bus, the bus stop is just 100 meters away from the apartment in front of the 5 stars Roi René hotel.
You can temporary stop your car in front of the building in our small quiet street just to to unload your belongings and then park your car on the Roi René boulevard or in the neighborhood it or alternatively (if you do not want to pay the meter by the hour but when you collect the car) in the underground parking Mignet just a 100 meters away.
Parking is usually easy on the street. We never had difficulties founding paid parking( free noon to 2 pm and 8 pm to 8 am, Sunday and public holidays I think).
You can also try to find free parking at 10 to 15 min walking distance. Try avenue Jules Ferry and in the area. When the street parking is free there is no mention of « payant » on the pavement. You may have to spend a bit of time searching but if you plan to leave the car for several days it si worth it.
1- It’s a non smoking apartment and animals are not allowed. Both door locks should be closed when you leave the apartment. The one at the bottom is a pain and I will change it. To remove the key keep it vertical and pull slowly.
2-The apartment and the neighborhood are quiet residential and for families.
The building, which is from the 18th century is fragile and well maintained. The respect and the calmness of the premises are hence mandatory. In case you would like to invite guests or play music late, thank you for keeping the windows closed and informing the neighbors. The floor of the apartment is made out of old wood therefore it can’t carry many people and large parties are not allowed.
Noise disturbance should be avoided after 10 p.m. in the apartment and at any time in the staircase and the common areas that should be kept clean and tidy.
3- You should clean the apartment every week and take out the garbage before you leave. The oven should be cleaned by pyrolysis (self-cleaning) regularly. Thank you for emptying the bag of the vacuum cleaner and using the proper cleaning material for the kitchen, floor, toilet etc.
4-The garbage should be placed in sealed garbage bags and placed at the garbage bin which is on the corner of the Roux Alpheran and Frederic Mistral streets before 8 p.m.
5-Please inform Peggy immediately by phone, email or SMS in case you have any problems with the electrical appliances, the plumbing, the electricity or the Air conditioning.
6- The BBox allows you to receive the internet in addition to the French and International TV stations. .
7-The windows should remain shut when you put the Air conditioning on. Thank you for not lowering the AC temperature below 28 degrees when you leave the apartment. Don’t forget to close the ceiling windows (Velux) when you leave the apartment. There is always a risk of unexpected storm in the South of France during the summer !
It is recommended to you switch off the AC in the morning and open the windows to clear the air in the apartment and to close the shutters in the afternoon especially if you leave (on the street side) to keep the apartment cool.
