A charming, beautiful apartment on an historical East Village block, with some of the neighborhood's best restaurants, bars and cafés. We're located on the second floor of a gorgeous pre-war building. Stay with us for a true local's experience!
The apartment is located on the second floor of a beautiful, red brick, pre-war building - a rustic, casual, open-spaced flat. It's a 2-bedroom apartment, with a private bedroom for rent.
East 7th street is famous for its local flair - on just our single block are restaurants like Caracas, Desnuda and Pylos; bars like the Ruffian and Lover's of Today; dessert joints like Butterlane Cupcakes and the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop; and cafes like Abraço and Van Leeuwen's. We've tried them all and we have plenty of insider tips to make sure you get the most of your stay!
And finally, you're in good hands! Count on being treated to off-the-beaten-path recommendations... like the original 1920's prohibition-era speakeasy down a hidden alleyway.

We like to strike a balance with our guests depending on what they need. If you've planned a full itinerary we're happy to leave you to it, and if you've left your trip more open to whim we've got recommendations you won't find in the guide books. If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to ask!
Only a few main house rules!
1. No smoking.
2. Save energy: please turn the AC and lights off when they're not being used.
3. Leave the common spaces clean.
Additionally, we're unable to accommodate small children in our space.
I'm Grant and I've lived here in the East Village for the past few years and I'm in love with it! I'm a PhD student in New York, but I'm originally from South Africa.
I've been hosting on Airbnb for a few years now and it's been a really amazing experience. I love meeting new folks from around the world. It's a lot of fun to show people my neighbourhood and share all the things that I think make it perfect.
Generally, I like to match my hosting style to my guests. If you're looking for the top five restaurants on my street, I have opinions and I can help you choose; if you've already scoured the guidebooks and know exactly what you want to do, I can tell you which direction the subway is in; and if you're planning on reading on the couch quietly, I can make you a cup of tea and stay out of your way.
