Wunderschöne superzentrale Dachgeschossmaisonette in denkmalgeschütztem Altbau.

Maisonette on two open plan floors with large rooftop terrace and pretty dormer windows. Wooden floors, white staircase, beams and kitchen.
Fast wifi.

One bedroom with queensize bed upstairs, convertible couch for two more guests on the lower floor, two extra mattresses for the fifth and sixth guest if needed.

Beautiful registered old building, the flat is on the fourth floor though and as most old buildings in Germany, it doesn't have an elevator, so witness your fitness! The terrace and the view will make up for this though, promised.

Walking distance to the cathedral, the central station (train to the airport: 11 minutes) and Cologne's famous museums; the trade fair is just on the other side of the river.
The area, Eigelsteinviertel, is one of the oldest parts of Cologne, used for glassworks by the romans more than 2000 years ago.

You'll have the whole place for yourself. Fully equipped kitchen. Fresh bedsheets and towels provided. Mattress measures 200 x 140 cm, 193 x 130 cm and two times 200 x 90 cm. Bathroom with shower. Hairdryer. Kitchen table and a little extra desk to get work done. Outdoor table, chairs and hammock on the terrace. No TV because we don't watch TV and don't like having one around, there's a record player instead. Music! No washing machine either, but launderette close by (if you go there bring a chair, the place is great for people watching).

For any specific extras you need, please just ask. We can't do miracles as they say in German, but will try to provide everything our guests need!

Hanna is traveling a lot but Mattes is in Cologne most of the time, so most likely you'll get to meet Mattes in person, while Hanna handles most communication from on the way.
We're both at reach for our guests at any time!

Regarding check in and check out, we try to make all sorts of hours happen, but do need a few hours for cleaning between bookings - just ask and we'll see what we can do.

Lively, colorful, central area.
Not Starbucks'ed yet as a lot of the rest of Cologne, therefore attracting lots of people working in culture as well as young artists and musicians.
Comparably busy, entertaining street life, lots of cafes with tables outside, it feels like a new gallery is opening every week. There are secret tiny music venues, specialized stores making model railway equipment or grinding knifes that are more than a century old, and even still some record stores around.
The flat is quiet nevertheless!

Also one of the few spots where Cologne is truly international and where you can eat out later then 10 pm, not at last due to the famous music school being in the area. Old buildings meet new architecture, local and shady meet super-expensive and fancy, churches from different centuries are right next to amazing food shops, brutalist mini parks, local low-key sausage shops as well as great restaurants. If you're from Cologne and like the feeling of a big city, this is the place you'll want to live at (that is, if you can still afford it).

Disclaimer: We've seen someone comment on another listing from the area that the place was "too international" [sic]. If people having different skin colors and dressing according to different cultures or religions bothers you, please refrain from booking, we do not want you as guests and rather don't meet you, ever! The same goes for homophobic travellers - you're not welcome here. Thanks.

The flat is right in the center so you probably end up walking everywhere. For public transport you couldn't be in a better location, as it's so close to the central station and you can chose from 3 bigger subway stops on top of that. Including walking to the station, it takes only 20 minutes to the airport via train, for example, and the trade fair is just one or two stops away depending on which station you leave from (I suggest just walking though if the weather is good enough, you'll pass by the cathedral and cross the river which is quiet nice). Also, Cologne is great for cycling, and if you rent a bike or even bring one, you're welcome to use the little backyard of the house to store it in when unused. If you come by car, there are several parking spots and garages around offering day-rates between 2 and 15 €s, depending on for when and which spot you book.

Nicht für Haustiere geeignet
Keine Partys oder Veranstaltungen
Die Check-in-Zeit ist 16:00 – 23:00.

Please take of your shoes, sit down on the toilet and smoke only on the terrace.
When you leave the house - even if just for a few minutes - we'd really appreciate if you make sure all windows are closed. Cologne has sudden weather changes and it might rain heavily on a previously sunny day, which in a penthouse like ours means flooding.
Once your stay is over, please do the dishes, take out your trash (to the bins in the backyard) and empty all food from the fridge. Thank you!

Regarding check in and check out times: we try to make all hours possible, but since we need a few hours to clean, we can only do check ins before 4pm and check outs after 1 pm if the guests before and after you leave sooner (or arrive later) than usual. For night-time check ins please ask, so we can figure it out in advance.

Hanna & Mattes

Köln, Deutschland · Mitglied seit August 2009

We're both interested in music, sound, architecture, places, stunning views, ideas, structure and functionality of stuff that surrounds us, random new things - and people, especially those who are passionate about something in their very own way.

We're very good friends and both travelled a lot for work and for pleasure, and after having had great experiences with AirBnB as guests around the world, decided to share Hanna's small, beautiful and a little unusual place too, and rent it out when she's away - which as of now is almost all the time.
In addition to that, we're helping a friend and rent out the beautiful maisonette he moved out of as well, until a new person moves in.
Mattes is in Cologne a lot at the moment, so if you come while Hanna isn't there you'll probably meet him!
