There is a double bed (not two separate beds) with a firm orthopaedic mattress. There is also a small fridge sufficient to keep drinks or milk cool.

There is a wardrobe, hangers, drawer space, a dressing table and stool and a comfy chaise-longue to relax with a cup of tea after a busy day seeing the sights of London, shopping, or enjoying theatres and restaurants; the National Theatre and Royal Festival hall are a 10 minute train ride away. If you enjoy running or walking the River Thames tow path is a 5 minute walk away.

Zugang für Gäste

Guests have reasonable access to the kitchen facilities and there is fridge space to store fresh food if you would like to prepare a meal. There is a small fridge in the guest bedroom to keep drinks cool. Coffee, tea and milk is available and guests are welcome to store food of their choice in their own fridge in the kitchen and there is space in a corner kitchen cupboard.

If guests use the kitchen they are kindly asked to wash-up after, and clear away any mess. There is a lovely garden leading from the kitchen where guests can relax with a morning coffee and there is a water feature with fish.

Long stay guests may use the washing machine once a week, on provision of their own laundry powder, and day of use agreed with host to avoid clashes.

Guests will have your own front-door key but if returning after 11pm they must inform the host.

Other than the paying guests no other person is allowed to hold a key or enter the premises. This is not a party house.

It is expected that the bedroom and the bathroom is left in the condition of cleanliness that guests encounter on their arrival.

For long stay guests; cleaning can be arranged at reasonable local rates.

There is a gym and swimming pool a 10 minute walk nearby; and there are several good running tracks along the river, common and wooded areas. There are many good local cafes a two minute walk away along the Lower Richmond Road as well as gastro-pubs and restaurants.

Interaktion mit Gästen

Although my partner is often away on business, I work from home and I am often around to help with any questions you may have. I enjoy meeting new people having travelled widely, and having lived and worked overseas for a number of years fully appreciate the importance of home comforts for weary travellers, as well as respecting the need for quiet privacy which I need when I am working.

Guests are welcome to enjoy the comforts of my home within access restraints above, and if I am not working I am happy to show you around the local area, go for a meal or a drink.

Die Nachbarschaft

Putney is a great neighbourhood. It doesn't feel like a busy London thoroughfare yet it is only 15 minutes by train or tube, and a little more by bus from most of the popular London sights.

If you set out early you can even catch a river boat, a 5 minute walk away, that will take you all the way to the Tower of London or Greenwich in the other direction; Wimbledon, for the tennis, is a 10 minute tube ride away.
The world-famous Oxford and Cambridge boat race starts on the Putney side of the River Thames which is only a 2 minute walk away. The race in 2017 will now feature men's AND women's teams and runs over the Easter week-end and during that weekend Putney is a great place to be.

There is a local swimming pool with a gym and a yoga centre, for drop-in yoga, nearby. There are some great parks to enjoy and Putney common is delightful for walking or running. Richmond Park is a 15 minute bus ride.

There is a local shopping centre with plenty of food shops and a great Waitrose super-market. For a quiet evening there is a local cinema, a local theatre group, and the local pubs all do great food. A 5 minute walk away will take you to the famous Half-Moon pub and music venue.

Verkehrsmittel

There is a choice of two tube stops at Putney Bridge and East-Putney, both on The District line, four stops from Earls Court, with easy access to central London and Heathrow Airport which is on the Piccadilly line and about a 35 minute ride from Terminals 1,,2,3,4 and 5.

The Gatwick express takes you directly to Victoria and a direct connection on the district line to Putney.

The 22 bus which is just across the road from the house, takes you on a great iconic route through the Kings Road in Chelsea, to Sloane Square, up to Knightsbridge where you have Harrods and Harvey Nichols, and onto Hyde-Park, Marble Arch and Piccadilly Circus. From there it is a short walk to Oxford Street.

From Putney over-ground station you are 10 minutes away from Waterloo and the South Bank, or the many trains that will take you out of London. On the same line you are 5 minutes from Clapham Junction where you can take a train to Brighton, only an hour away, or into the heart of the country side with Chocolate Box villages and cosy country pubs.

Wimbledon is an easy bus-ride or tube ride away. We also have the famous Boris bicycles which are available for easy hire and there is a public rack of bikes a 5 minute walk away along the Lower Richmond Road.

I use a local taxi service and can arrange a taxi for you with short notice.

Weitere wichtige Infos

We are a no-smoking house, and have a 'no shoes' policy when we leave the solid oak floor of the living area and tiled kitchen so no shoes on the carpets please. Cream carpets on the stairs, landings, and bedroom dictate that rule. For the same reason we discourage food in the bedrooms and care with any drinks; spills on cream carpets are impossible to remove completely but there is a small chill fridge in the guest bedroom to keep drinks cool and a small kettle to make tea or coffee when you wake.

If guests use the kitchen they are kindly asked to wash-up after, and clear away any mess.

For long-stay guests, clean linen and towels are provided on request; cleaning implements and vacuum cleaner are made available so that long-stay guests may maintain their privacy, although a cleaner can be arranged at good local rates.

Long-term guests may do a machine wash once a week with the provision of their own laundry powder and on a day in the week agreed with the host.

Any breakages must be reported to the host and the
client is expected to replace items broken which would include crockery.

It is expected that the bedroom and the bathroom are left in the condition of cleanliness that guests encounter on their arrival. Having had a number of long stays we all manage to enjoy privacy, and interaction, and I welcome hosting all who are here to enjoy all that Putney, and London, have to offer.

Want to go to London? Want to live in a beautiful house with a wonderful host? Live here! I stayed here for two mounths and I loved every minute of my stay. Phyllis is welcoming, helpful and a lovely person to live with. Her cute dog Frieda became one of my best friend in London ;-) The house and room is very clean and felt like home. I have nothing to complain about and this is my first time renting by airbnb. When I return to London in the future, even for a short time, I would never book a hotel, this is the place to live! Have to add that Putney is one of my favourite part of London!

My wife and I had an enjoyable time at Phyllis' place. Phyllis is a friendly, responsible hostess and was available to help us with sightseeing and other local information and also to have a friendly talk. The Putney area is very pleasant, with enjoyable walks along the Thames and around beautiful parklands close by. Transport is great: bus, national rail and tube stations as well as Thames river ferry to city and beyond. We took the ferry from Putney wharf to Greenwich which was a great outing. Great pubs, restaurants, movie theatre and shops close by. Putney High street shops are a 10-15 min walk away. Just ask Phyllis if any other guest/s are going to be there while you are there - we were not aware that another guest was staying when we booked. Phyllis generously provided use of a small kitchen fridge, kitchen facilities and the tv room which was all very handy for us.

I stayed with Phyllis for a long time and I enjoyed every single day! She's a lovely host, really helpful and I felt at home from the very first moment. The place is beautiful and looks exactly as shown in the photos. It is very clean and located in a wonderful neighbourhood, which is really safe and friendly. I can only recommend everybody to enjoy an unforgettable stay at Phyllis and Frieda's (the cutest dog on this planet!) place. Thanks so much, Phyllis, I can't wait to come back!

I have lived and worked in eight very different countries from the depths of Borneo to the remote Island of St Helena, bang in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean and without an airport. I am used to moving home and when I travel I always bring music and once I carried books but now it is a kindle.

I enjoy photography, good food, and wherever I am I try to make time to run. I am independent, but enjoy good conversations over a glass of wine. I love cinema, theatre and I get pleasure from walking on the beach, strolling through woods, climbing mountains, exploring rain forests and learning about different histories and cultures.

I have two grandsons who I hope I will take travelling one day. I travel light and still feel there is room in my life for discovery and adventure. When I return to my lovely home in London I intend to make a room so I too can be a host on Airbnb, meantime I hope my current Airbnb experiences will give me inspiration and ideas for being a great host; a wonderful alternative to the anonymity of hotels.
