True American classic, 1977 Airstream completely remodeled into a cozy, private retreat.
Please read entire listing to insure this space meets your expectations. This should be considered a "Novelty Stay" and not compared to, a hotel, or house accomodations. As much as we love her, Alice is essentially an upgraded, quirky, glamor camping (glamping) experience--It is a stay for the adventurous, open minded traveler.
Okay, with that out of the way—moving on…
This space has gone through a major reno and "green" upgrade, including 2 standard twin beds with yummy handmade linen bedding and towels. Smart TV's with bluetooth, cable, WiFi, USB charging, sweet little stand up or sit down shower with on-demand hot water, complete rewiring, plumbing, (connected to sewer) heat reduction window film and energy star heat pump, A/C unit.
This is a small space. It has been equipped with a single unit, duel heat pump A/C unit that goes off and on frequently. If you are a very light sleeper, this may be bothersome.
The kitchenette has a full size sink, small refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker (K-cup) microwave. and creamer in the fridge. Small table can be used as computer work space or a quick sit down for a meal. In the cold winter months, the beds are outfitted with down comforters and there are extra blankets to keep things cozy if you need it.
As this space is a renovated classic, it does not meet ADA compliance. Please be sure to read the details in the "Other Things to Note" section regarding the bath area-- (curtained only) and space limitations for ceiling height and toilet area. If you are looking for a casual, clean, updated and private space to relax during a visit to Charleston for a business trip wedding or just passing through, Alice is clean, inclusive, quaint, coastal and local.

~Hosts are amiable locals who are fully versed in the local food, culture, attractions and trends. Please make sure you make reservations for evening meals downtown when you book. Charleston is a gastro-tourism town and the best places book weeks to months in advance. we reccomend checking out Eater Charleston site as a guide to the brightest and newest places to dine.
Weitere wichtige Infos
~ In order to keep the space open during the reno, we did not install a hard door to the bathroom. It is partially curtained only. Those who are shy, traveling with a "new friend" for the first time, or require extra privacy, might find this feature uncomfortable.
-Very tall or plus size guests may find the space, doorways, toilet (18" wall to wall) and shower awkwardly small or challenging for full comfort. Most people don't notice, however, if this is a concern, ask us for more detailed photos.
-As Alice is a 40-year Old classic, she is not ADA compliant.
- Cooking (stove and oven)appliances were removed during the renovation. This space is not for guests who wish to cook. The house kitchen is not available for food prep, as we are a Celiac/gluten free household
~We are always available to help, chat, answer a question or recommend a place to visit or eat. If you are a guest that strictly wants privacy-- we can accommodate that as well.
Charleston, SC is not just a "historic" place to visit, but also enjoys the title of one of the Top 3 "food and wine destinations" in the country for several years running. We have an active progressive food scene and are a huge gastro-tourism market. (Yes, people literally visit just to eat at all the amazing restaurants all over downtown) Most places are casual/nice casual. Many of the eating establishments book weeks and months in advance. Please let me know when you book your space, if you need suggestions-- If you wait until you get here, to "check it out" or try to make a reservation day of, you will not likely get a seating.
~As we live in a quiet residential neighborhood, and love our neighbors--we kindly ask that enthusiasm levels are kept on the low end outside, so they (our neighbors) will continue to love us and our guests...
-We have regular pest control maintenance performed, occasionally a bug will find its way in. (Remember this is the South!) What typically finds its way in doesn't want to take up permanent residence and is most like just as horrified to be there as you are to see it. Please let us know immediately, as our pest control person lives across the street and can take care of it that day.
~Check-in is 3PM or after. We kindly ask you to text us a day or two before your arrival regarding what time you expect to check-in. Although we understand travel can be complicated and situations can change quickly, keeping your commitment to the planned check-in time is critical to allowing us to maintain our busy work schedules, personal obligations, and plans.
~ We don't care if you smoke, or what you smoke, but we are firm that you keep it outside, please.
~We would like to keep it to registered guests after 9PM unless discussed prior to arrival with hosts.
~Please contact host prior to instant booking regarding children. This space is not suitable for kids under 10.
