Josue was a great host! This was my first experience with airbnb, and Josue really made it a great one. We had some trouble (over an hour late) finding the meeting spot in the dark, and Josue helped guide us there and was waiting when we finally arrived. He even had a welcome basket for us! We had some trouble with the toilets (FYI don't flush toilet paper), and he was very responsive and able to get them fixed asap. He also brought us some supplies mid-way through the trip - such a nice and thoughtful guy! The house and pool are beautiful, and exactly like the pictures. It is a smaller house but so well designed and modern that it feels large. We were a group of 5, and it was perfect. It is also very secure with a gate and security system. There are cameras inside the house, but Josue did not mind disconnecting them when I asked. The guest bedroom can be 2 beds as shown or pushed together to be a king (as it was for us). Our 5th member slept on the couch/air mattress and it worked great. The house is actually across from Playa Matapalo and about 15 min away from Playa Dominical. The local beach, Playa Matapalo, is technically walking distance but pretty far. We rented a rental car and drove everywhere for the convenience. 4 wheel drive is definitely needed for the driveway. Our favorite beach was Playa Dominical. That is where the waves are huge (great for surfing!), and there is so much to do. There is a market, so many restaurants (El Pescado Loco, Congo Mongo, Patron's....), surf board rentals, a mini super (grocery store), etc. Such a great beach! The local beach was a bit too local for us but very pretty. A little further South (between Playa Dominical and Playa Mantapalo) is another beach, and it is probably the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. It's pretty quite there too, but the view is amazing. A must see! Just like the others mention, Langosta Feliz has wonderful food. We ate there twice it was so delicious. We also hiked the Uvita Waterfall (SO BEAUTIFUL, $8, 20 min away, 5 mile hike total) and went to the Villas Alturas Animal Sanctuary. We loved the area and felt like we got the true Costa Rican experience. Wonderful house and wonderful host!
