Had a good time at Smith’s place. Small grocery store and a coffee shop right next door made it easy at breakfast. Hominy, a great place to eat breakfast is also right around the corner. Place is clean and stylish and of good value if you’re ok not staying right in French quarter. We had a car, so it was easy to get around. Again, we enjoyed it very much!

Loved staying here. As a Charleston native coming home to visit, we really enjoyed hanging out in this part of town, and it’s a lovely, comfortable place.

Smith's place is situated in a colorful pocket of Charleston. The house is connected to a coffee shop and convenience store. You're just a stone's throw from Hominy Grill, which serves top-shelf Southern Cooking (best shrimp and grits I had on my trip). King Street is just a 10-minute walk from the lodging. Also, the 20- to 30-minute stroll into the Historic District was quite beautiful. The house itself is quite spacious with a nice bathroom and modern kitchen. One of the two bedrooms is actually a mattress that fills a cubby hole. Because the cubby hole connects to the living room, it actually feels like a big room with a sectioned off bed. There is an AC vent directly on top of the bed so it could get a little drafty for temperature-sensitive guests (ours slept pretty good). The second bedroom is quite large and offers lots of natural light. There's also a wide porch for midday beer sipping.

Smith's apartment is in the perfect location. We were directly above a coffee shop, able to park for free in a driveway, and blocks from amazing restaurants like Xiao Bao Biscuit, R Kitchen and Hominy Grill. The bed was very comfortable. Loved the porch off the back. Some parts were a bit confusing. Like, instructions would state one thing, like "help yourself to coffee", but there was none available. Or "leave keys in the lego head on the table", but that didn't exist. Or even "grab the parking passes on the table to park for free", but there weren't any. Either way, Smith responded quickly to my parking questions and all was fine. Bring your own jambox or speakers for music, as they don't have one available for use. A small issue, of course. No full length mirror always bums me out, too. I would definitely recommend this space to anyone traveling, specifically two couples, as this place is very large!

We loved this flat! So easy to get around. Great restaurants, bars and shopping nearby. If ever we are in Charleston, we will be making a point to stay here. Thanks for the Southern hospitality!

The apartment is very spacious with a comfy king bed and extra nook bed connected to the living room. Would be great for a couple and a friend. The location is great - we liked walking to King St. and taking in the neighborhood along the way. There's a yoga studio half a block away that we did one morning and a coffee shop and bodega right downstairs from the apartment - both very convenient. The apartment itself has an artsy vibe. It has quirk and unique elements. Our only complaint was that the duvet hadn't been changed/washed when we arrived. It must have been a mistake bc everything else was clean and when we mentioned it the team they quickly resolved the issue. The team in charge of the Airbnb quickly responded to any messages, which we appreciated too.

This place is pleasant and simple. Not fancy or overdecorated, which suited us fine. Because we came to see the total eclipse of the sun, we expected that the town might be a big overcrowded, but the feel of this neighborhood was very chill. Near a small grocery store, a coffee place, a fantastic eatery with local cuisine (The Hominy Grill) and near a great vegan/vegetarian place. The neighborhood feels like a transitional neighborhood: some gentrifying happening, some places in great repair, others not, so, because we're from Brooklyn and Manhattan, where everything is like that, and always changing, we felt right at home. For four adults, it was a reasonable size. Would definitely stay here again. The place was pretty much what the listing said it was. Also, it was August and hot, and the central a/c worked very well. There was some miscommunication about us having a driveway to park in, and in the end we had passes to park on the street, which wasn't a problem. This was my first airbnb experience. Reading the reviews, it seems like with some airbnbs, you meet the host and it's more of a personal experience. This place feels like it's a well-run property, rather than you're meeting the host or hosts or (as with a hotel) that there's someone there: we felt on our own, but there were four of us, and we were busy doing our stuff, so that wasn't an issue for us, and was, because everything was in good order, just fine. Smith did send a list of favorite places. As far as a first experience with airbnb, it was positive.
