This was my first airbnb experience! Eric got back to me within a few hours after I last minute decided to take a spontaneous trip down to the city for four nights, which was such a pleasant surprise. Contacting him via text was very manageable as I was traveling with no concrete arrival itinerary-- he even went to the grocery store and asked what I enjoy for breakfast as I was on my way! The place is homey, artistically decorated, and covered in stories that I am sure he will share with you! I loved the private room I got to be in, the lighting in the morning that comes in through the window was spot on for doing makeup in the morning (my own personal plus!). The room itself has tons of books--some books from authors I enjoy myself, such as James Baldwin and overall theatrical pieces. I went to the city with half plans and half spontaneity; Eric will be more than knowledgeable to give you his recommendations. One night I went to Harlem Public, which is a sit down restaurant and pub (he'll tell you to try the Parm-crusted Burger... and you will not be disappointed!) and I met the most friendly folks who are regulars. I even exchanged numbers with a few people I hope to call friends. An overall great experience, Eric, the place, and the neighborhood, will feel like family.

I cannot even imagine my visit without having stayed with Eric. He is not only a wonderful host, he is a brilliant and charming man and a fabulous tour guide. He immediately made me feel at home in his beautifully decorated apartment in Harlem. Eric gives so much attention to detail and as a guest, you profit from his experience hosting visitors from all over the world. After our walking tour of Harlem, I felt an even greater appreciation for the rich history of the area. Getting to and from Midtown or Downtown from his place was easy and I had great conversations with people while riding the subway. Not only did I have a great host in Eric, I also felt like I had made a new friend and it made traveling alone much less daunting than it would have been. Every evening, I would look forward to coming back "home" to my wonderful host. We had great conversations about history (ask him about the book he is writing!), theater, comedy, in fact, just about everything! I recommend staying with Eric from the bottom of my heart and I hope to see him again! - Nina (born in Detroit and living in Basel, Switzerland)

Eric was very accommodating and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible! He's been living in Harlem for 13 years! There's no better person to stay with if you're unfamiliar with the are. I stayed with him for an entire week and had no big problems. He was flexible and personable. Would reccomend to tourist especially!

What a wonderful airbnb stay. For starters Eric is a wonderful host who was always available to help with whatever was needed. I'm glad we got to talk and hangout briefly as he is incredibly friendly accommodating and has a wealth of knowledge about the history of this area. I regret we did not get to see more of eachother. Secondly his apartment was so comfortable, the real feel of Harlem. Eclectically and tasteful decorated with antiques, modern, artwork and great ambient lighting everywhere, and much more spacious than the pictures permit. I would highly reccomend this unique apartment in my favorite part of Harlem. Thanks so much Eric.

It was was my first time using Airbnb and everything went much better, than I expected. Eric was very welcoming and told me lots of stories about the city. The location is great, 5 minute walk to the subway, so you can be in Manhattan downtown in about 20 minutes. Do not hesitate, forget about the hotels, use airbnb and travel more!
