The house was clean, spacious and comfortable. Although we never met Claude, he answered our few questions via text and phone. There were a few issues with the amenities that mattered to us.
Kitchen: old grounds in the coffee maker, dirty dishes in the washer, no room for food in the refrigerator. The outdoor seating area and barbecue grill were not clean, and so were not used (FYI: amenities didn't mention the grill).
Essentials & shampoo: the family's supply of bar soap and shampoo were left out, and there was no liquid soap for handwashing.
Pets allowed: We didn't bring any pets, but there was a very friendly house cat that greeted us. We learned to let her in and out. We were not informed in advance of this. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but there were some in our group who were allergic, and one who was afraid.
Pool: nice, heated pool, but could have been cleaned better. We didn't use it.
Claude informed us that he had rented the garage to two students, who would not have pool access. This was disturbing, since we had rented the whole house. We felt unsecure at night, because the front door could not be deadbolted. (Maybe Claude changes the code for each new guest, but, still, deadbolting is needed.)
Two in our group operate a BNB, and know how things should go. They were irritated. It is understandable that things can come up when you are raising children, so certain things will not get finished. Since we booked 3 months in advance, we were disappointed to find that some things weren't ready.
The house is very well kept up (congratulations to 'Mrs. Claude', if she is doing most of this work!). I'm sure that things will improve for future guests, as Claude's family becomes more experienced with work. Thank you for your hospitality!
