Judy's place is more secluded than we thought it would be. We were pleasantly surprised to find that it is located on a mountain through patches of redwoods. We enjoyed waking up to the fog and crisp mountain air. There are so many places to explore in the area. The room is very clean with a very spacious bathroom. We especially appreciated the peace and quiet as well as the privacy.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the windy road up the mountains and the solitude of Judy's place. This was a great, quiet spot away from any noise and the perfect location between San Jose and Santa Cruz. We were able to meet friends for dinner Friday night at Santana Row and then spend a Saturday with family at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Judy and Dean greeted us when we arrived and even offered to help carry our bags to our room. The bed was comfortable and the entire place was clean. Judy provided us with some breakfast - bagels and cream cheese, yogurt, plums, and cherries - and we also brought our own snacks that we stored in the fridge. There is also plenty of plates, cups, and eating utensils, and water, coffee, and tea available. The sitting area outside was lovely. We had breakfast outside and spent the morning looking at the trees and all of the interesting moths that flew by our door. It was a fairly hot weekend and we managed just fine with the fan and a bit of the cool air that blew in from the vents and the windows. Judy was kind enough to offer any ice or an additional water or fan each day, which we declined. We often returned late in the evening and despite being in such a forested area Judy had porch lights on to keep the path to our room well-lit. The one parking space was ideal - just big enough for our little Subaru hatchback and easy to enter and exit from the road. Communication with Judy before and during our trip was easy and straightforward; she is literally a text message away and gave us lots of privacy. Wonderful location and such a welcoming host!

Lovely place with a very nice view looking down the mountain. Judy and her son were very welcoming. Bedroom was a nice size and the bed was very comfortable. This place is rather remote and cell phone coverage is rather spotty in the mountains. If you are seeking solitude, you can find it here. Breakfast items (bagel, cream cheese, yogurt and a small bowl of cherries) were welcome and tasty but only provided on the first morning and there is no place close to get breakfast, so plan ahead! The kitchen has no sink but otherwise there is a toaster, microwave, single hot plate, a large refrigerator, a decent amount of dishes and cookware. A couple of options for coffee (even had some medium roast!) and half and half in the fridge. There is a large bathroom and bathroom sink area and everything was clean and functional. The tub is large. There is a newish washer and dryer (in the kitchen area) but a note says that washing soap is only for quests who are there 3 days or more. Judy and her son were very congenial (and allowed me to check in early) but I only spoke with them briefly. The place is on the lower level of a very large house and faces a nice view. However, only the bedroom has windows, the rest of the area (except the doorway) has no natural light. I think they should rotate the bed 90 degrees to afford a better view of the great outdoors. The place (it's really like an apartment) has a private entrance (and two chairs on the small outside patio). They have a renter who uses the washer and dryer in the kitchen area (but wasn't there when I was). You need to climb down a number of steps, so probably not a great place for anyone who has mobility problems. My guess is that Judy or someone in her family would help with bags for the people who might need it. The place is very quiet, I only heard occasional footsteps during the early evening. Internet was very fast but went out briefly cutting off a phone call I was on. Again, cell coverage is poor (at least with T-Mobile). Decor was ok, not overly charming but pleasantly neutral. The drive up from Scott's Valley takes the better part of a half hour and the road is in very good shape but also is very twisty, and at points narrow. Lots and lots of trees (which I love) but I didn't notice many great views on the way (but perhaps i was concentrating on the road!). All in all, I had a comfortable and pleasant stay, and again, Judy was accommodating. A fine place to find peace and quiet.

Thank you for your comprehensive review Thomas! We appreciate and consider all your suggestions. Just want guests to know that restaurants, food, gas, town, etc is 4.2 miles away; however, there may be others who miss the line in the message we send a couple of days ahead indicating only first morning breakfast in fridge, so we appreciate you pointing that out. Blessings.

I enjoyed my stay with Judy. It was very private and very quiet. Judy was easy to get in touch with via text and she responded right away. I didn't need anything. She very nicely has a coffee maker with coffee pods or an electric kettle and tea bags that she supplies and a little snack for the first morning breakfast which was just perfect for me. There is a heating plate, a kettle, a microwave and a refrigerator with the coffee maker just across the little hallway from the bedroom, as well as dishes and pots and pans if you were going to cook. I was at a 5 day retreat at 1440 Multiversity and was easily able to go back and forth within 15 minutes each way, although it is quite a winding road. I am a flatlander so it took some getting used to, but the road is wide enough so no problems. Thanks again, Judy, I felt quite at home.

Solar-powered peaceful room with 6Mbps internet connection. No traffic. Curvy roads for spirited driving pleasure. What more could a quiet nerd ask for except possibly a permanent residence next door?

I had a wonderfully peaceful stay in the beautiful mountains behind Scotts Valley. On my way to Judy's place I came across deer and wild turkeys...that was on day 1. ❤ It was a very private room and bathroom, with seperate entrance. I appreciated that the most. A lovely breakfast was left in the fridge with cream for the coffee. Nice clean place, I felt very comfortable and at home. I highly recommend this Air BnB and would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

We had a great stay in Judy's place! Right from the beginning we felt at home. It was Judy's and her husband's hospitality and kindness and eye for detail that made this possible. Great people! The house is situated in a spectacular area not too far from Scotts Valley's center with wonderful views. We definitely want to come back. Thanks for the great stay! Henk & Nora Netherlands

My husband and I are pretty laid back people. We both work, but enjoy our time off working our 4.5 acres or enjoying them, traveling, listening to good music, playing outdoors or enjoying good comedy. We love meeting people but can also sense when people would rather have privacy. Faves - Book - The Four Agreements, Movie - Christmas Vacation, Food - a giant salad with everything, Music - most all, and travel destinations...........just returned from the Bahamas (lovely), Mexico, Hawaii (all islands except Molokai), British Columbia, and in the next couple of years want to make it to Peru/ Machu Picchu. I would love to take a tour of Sacred Sites around the world. LIfe motto - recognize the light within everyone I meet.
