A beautiful house situated on the north side of the island. Enjoy panoramic views from the outdoor bar of Culebra, St. Thomas and El Yunque. Wake up each morning to an oceanview in the queen sized loft style bed downstairs or the master bedroom upstairs. Take the short walk down the hill to the beach with the complimentary beach chairs and boogie boards in hand. Listen and watch the waves crash as you enjoy a cup of coffee on the upstairs balcony.
The house has on the main floor no separated bedroom, but does have a loft style bed, pull out couch, bathroom, AC and full kitchen.
The upstairs has two bedrooms, living room, snack/common area, fridge, microwave and bathroom, plus a marvelous balcony through French doors from either the master bedroom or common area. The living room area is mostly a space open to the air and the wonderful views, but is fully screened. With the upstairs openings and fans, the airflow is great, but there is no AC upstairs.
There is no internal stairway between floors; each has its own outside access. The pool is private, shared only with neighborhood horses who often come to sip from the pool. The outside bar, however, is shared only with people you chose to invite.

When you rent the Casa, you will be renting the entire property. The house has separate lower (main) and upstairs units, with AC and the full kitchen downstairs only. Each of the 2 units has separate outside entrances; there is no stairway between floors internal to the house. On occasion, we make available the Casita (lower level) for rent just by itself. At such times, a person or couple can rent the downstairs only (look to see if we have offered the listing for Casita Costa Brava as an available rental by itself), while anyone, including larger groups can rent the whole property. Regardless, your party will be the only one staying at the house during the time of your rental.

The property is managed by a wonderful couple - Freddy Gonzales and his wife Val. Freddy will greet you when you arrive at Casa Costa Brava and is available if you have questions or concerns during your stay.

While we have internet over landline, the service to our part of the island is pretty slow and can be unreliable. You wouldn't think a landline would be so affected by storms and winds, but it is. Service can even go down a few times a day - not for long, usually for just a few minutes, but seldom for extended periods. They have been promising improvements, but so far haven't delivered on much.
Be sure to be prepared with plenty of sunscreen. As with most places in the Caribbean, the sun will do a number on you, including most especially those escaping snow during the winter months. Also, after suffering almost drought conditions for over a year (we and many others lost some wonderful trees), Vieques has experienced an unusual abundance of water, which has produced more than a few mosquitoes. So be prepared to use some bug spray, especially at dusk. At Costa Brava we normally have a pretty nice breeze, which does help, but depending on season you may still need the sprays.
Speaking of plenty of sun, one of the primary reasons to vacation at Costa Brava is the fabulous pool and deck with a covered bar. It's hard to find a more beautiful and enjoyable combination anywhere on Vieques, except maybe for the W; and there you have to share with hundreds of others who are not your closest friends. Please keep in mind, however, that unlike the W we have no lifeguard, and the pool is fully accessible and without security fencing to prevent younger ones from entering the pool area or the pool itself. Also, the far pool wall forming the outside edge is very narrow and faces a steep drop off to the ground below. This ledge is not meant to be walked on, except by the occasional neighborhood iguana, and contains only a partial fence. You can see this ledge and the clear access to the pool in the pictures of the pool area. If you have little ones, you will need to make sure you pool educate them and be sure to watch them carefully any time they are around the pool.
Costa Brava is blessed with loyal local animal life. While the horses who visit are very wary and won't let you get close, they are entertaining. The few regular dogs who come buy are very friendly and enjoy guests who give them attention. Jack, the black lab mix, is especially attentive and thinks all the guests belong to him.
Since Casa Costa Brava is our home, we appreciate and trust that your stay will be governed by the Air BNB code. Additionally, we request no smoking indoors and no pets.
