It is furnished with a comfortable single bed dressed in high quality down and cotton bedding, a teak secretary desk, and a tall bookcase. Common areas are cleaned twice weekly by professionals. Supplies are well stocked. Nights are quiet. Please read and affirm the rules & quiet hours before booking.
If you have a lot of luggage or you're a party of two, consider one of my larger rooms (https://www.airbnb.com/s?host_id=240790).

Your host and co-host live on site, work outside the home, and maintain a professional operation based on hospitality best practices and common sense rules. For everyone's comfort, safety, and peace of mind, we meet new guests for check-in, by appointment, on their first visit. Check-in takes just 5 or 10 mins. Returning guests don't need to meet the host for check-in. When we're home, we use the kitchen and living areas alongside guests. We enjoy meeting guests when our paths cross, but we respect your privacy and autonomy.
I'm a Superhost, and I manage my multi-room Airbnb much like a traditional Bed & Breakfast. I truly enjoy sharing my comfy, warm, and welcoming home with good people from all over the world.
WHY I HOST: To me, being a host is a kind of activism. It promotes world peace and social justice through a rare level of cultural exchange. Where else might you have breakfast with a family from a country you may never visit? It promotes economic justice by making travel affordable for people who couldn't manage it before, and by helping lower income hosts meet the rising cost of living in the Bay Area. It keeps families together, as when it brings grandparents to town who could not previously have afforded extended stays when their grown children had babies, settled in Berkeley after graduation, or became injured or sick. And it promotes social justice by enabling people to get to know one another across religious, ethnic, and other differences. I'm committed to creating a shared living space where people of any age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity, and can feel safe, respected, and completely at home.
ABOUT ME: I'm a writer and environmental & social justice advocacy professional now earning a masters degree in psychology. I'm intellectually inclined, politically engaged, and culturally sensitive. I love studying nature (from microbes to galaxies), relating to animals (wild and domestic), gardening, outdoor adventures, philosophy, writing, and exploring the mysteries of "life, the universe, and everything."
Looking forward to meeting you!
