This gorgeous home sits on 24 wooded acres in SW New Hampshire. Built in 1774 by a Revolutionary War family, additions over the centuries make it an experience of serene nature, fireplaces, wood-burning stoves, rich furnishings-plus modern amenities!
This is an incredible historic home on a gravel road in the forest. Spring, summer, fall, and winter, it's a beautiful rustic space. The tensions of the world melt away as you drive the forested roads, arrive on this gorgeous property, and enter to see rich wood floors, Persian rugs, lovely furnishings, fireplaces, and wood stoves that transport you to a more relaxed time. The house itself has five bedrooms (1 king, 2 queens, and 2 single beds w/trundle beds). Though it has all the charm of its historic roots, the home has a new kitchen and modern amenities to keep you comfortable and connected. Make this your annual relaxation space -- or home base for all the activities and sights that New England has to offer.

We have a local caretaker - the former owner of the home - who is very good and will attend to any maintenance promptly. As we do not live locally, we rely on you to communicate your needs to us through AirBnB, and we will get them taken care of!
Please know that many of the furnishings are valuable and treasured, so we expect you to take care of them as though they were your own.
The fireplaces and wood stoves provide wonderful ambience, but also pose safety risks because of their design and age. We charge an additional $150 for use of these amenities. Payment of this fee entitles you to unlimited wood and it pays our caretaker, the former owner of the home, to meet you, demonstrate the fire-starting techniques that work, and familiarize you with the fire extinguishers and safety equipment.
There are two bedrooms perfect for kids, but we do not expect that a group with children outnumbering adults is a good fit for the home. Just as you enjoy the quiet serenity, we expect you to keep noise to a minimum for the benefit of our neighbors (distant though they are). If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask!

We're a Californian and a New Yorker living exactly half-way in between the two --- Washington, D.C.! But seriously, we enjoy hosting people here and helping them enjoy their visits, whether it's a few days for business, a Capitol vacation, or a few months rental. We recently bought a second home in New Hampshire, which we're making available to people who want to relax in a historic tranquil setting. Come on by!
