Beautiful & unique loft in historic art colony. Great central LA location. Quirky decor, vibrant patio garden & quiet yet colorful neighborhood. Private security, easy parking & on-site bar/restaurant. Please read full Description before booking.
This room is mostly rented for groups booking other listings in the loft; click "more" to view exceptions under "Other Things to Note." If you meet the criteria, feel free to book.
The Gazebo bed has recently moved from the open area in the middle of the common space as pictured, to it's own little curtained nook under the Treehouse. So the 2nd pic isn't accurate, but the improvements in privacy and personal space are obvious if you look at the 3rd pic showing the Treehouse.
The budget-friendly price is based on the small size & other limitations. Before contacting me, please make sure you've read the the description & looked at the pics, and also that you've looked at and agree to the special rules for Gazebo guests under "House Rules"
You'd be staying underneath the Treehouse room located in the open,
high-ceiling common area at the front of the loft, on a comfortable twin bed. The space has some privacy with curtains and screens.
Our loft is in one of the world's largest artist colonies with a great central LA location. It's one of the oldest buildings on the property, built around 1900, with a brick face, amazing vaulted wood ceiling, and a huge skylight that makes the space glow with natural light. Private outdoor patio area, with shade, a bar-b-que grill and lovely garden. Parking is plentiful and adjacent, and the entire complex is patrolled 24/7 by our own security team.
Of important note: my cat Molecule is very friendly, and since your bed will be in the open space she may try to cuddle with you when you sleep. If you are allergic to cats this space is not for you. The Treehouse or Sweet Suite (see our other listing) would allow you to block her from the sleeping area, although both are more expensive.

Interaktion mit Gästen
All stays include "Arrival Concierge" to help you figure out how to get here from the airport (or however you're arriving).
If time permits, I'll spend an hour or so with you on your 1st day, to answer questions and orient you to the neighborhood & city at large.
I enjoy conversing with guests: sharing my extensive knowledge of LA, trading stories & ideas, and getting to know each other. I also have a good sense of when guests need less interaction, and make myself scarce when necessary.
I live in a private area of the loft, work from home and am often around quite a bit. I sometimes use the downstairs common areas for work and projects, though I always discuss such use to insure I can keep these activities from interfering with your stay.
I frequently invite guests (especially solo travelers) when i go to parties, shows, underground bars, farmer's markets, art openings and the like. Also, I'm often available as tour guide/ taxi service in my 2006 Infinity for $15/hour plus gas//$0.25/mile. Or you might be able to convince me to take you on some adventure for just cost of gas, if I've got the free time and it sounds like fun!
Weitere wichtige Infos
The Gazebo Nook is generally only booked as an extra bed for groups of 2 or 3 who are also booking the Treehouse, or for groups of 4-8 taking the entire loft, due to privacy issues that affect all guests.
Exceptions will be made if you meet ALL criteria below:
--- will not be spending much time in the loft other than sleeping.
--- agree to House Rules below, especially regarding check-in time & sound.
--- book 4 days maximum, 2 days minimum.
Otherwise, please see my other listings for the "Treehouse" or "Sweet Suite", as it is likely one of these will suit you better:
Let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you!
--- Standard check-in is 3pm. I may be able to accommodate other check-in times, however you must 1) contact me at least 48 hours before check-in (or soon as you book) to make arrangements; and 2) provide me with a maximum 2 hour window in which you plan to arrive. If you cannot meet the window you set, you may have to wait until a time of my convenience. Check-in before noon or after 10pm will require additional fee.
--- Standard check-out is 11am. I can usually accommodate late check-out; however if I have another guest arriving I may need to ask you to move to the common space, where you can hang out in comfort until your preferred departure time.
--- No additional guests in the Nook.
--- If you would like to have a visitor this may be allowed, but you must ask permission first.
--- Be respectful & considerate of other guests. Clean up after yourself, especially in the bathroom and kitchen. If you come in late or leave early, please be as quiet as you can, especially when closing the door or climbing the stairs.
--- Due to the placement of the Nook (under the Treehouse in the open area of the loft) and it's lack of walls, sound from your space will carry through the loft. Therefore please limit your acoustic impact by turning off your cellphone (notifications & alarms) between the hours of 10pm and 10am, and if you wish to make a phone call during this timeframe please step outside to do so. Also if you wish to watch a movie or listen to music at any time, please use headphones.
--- Please communicate your needs and plans. If I can make you more comfortable in any way, or if you have issues/problems with anything in the loft, tell me so I can make amends. Also, if you let me know your schedule, I can plan my activities in the loft accordingly for everyone's convenience.
--- You're free to use the kitchen as much as you wish. However, please ask for guidelines & overview before using. Also, since sound carries from the kitchen throughout the loft, all use must be between the hours of 10am to 10pm, unless by special arrangement//request. Please see the House Manual for more details regarding use of cooking tools and etc.
-- No pets, no children under 12, no teens without responsible guardian.
-- Smoking inside is limited to non-tobacco products only. Cigarette smoking should be taken outside to the patio. Luckily the year-round pleasant weather makes this easy!
-- Please look at the House Manual once you've booked as we've put a lot of helpful info there. If all else fails: read the signs and labels about the house: they'll help you figure out where to find things, where to put things, how things work, etc.
-- Honesty is the best policy. Smiles & good times are obligatory! :-D

I'm an artist, entrepreneur & teacher. I've lived here 9 years & am very knowledgeable about LA, especially regarding underground & off-the-beaten-path adventures. I'm from New York, went to college in Indiana for a degree in theatre, then to Arizona for my MFA in Intermedia. I've taught college courses and presented performances, lectures & workshops across the US & Europe. More recently I became involved in costume design & wearable technology; now I run a small fashion company making "upcycled" clothing & fashion accessories. I'm a geek of many stripes & clown on occasion. I love to cook & I'm a master of hot sammiches, with 2 trophies from the 3rd 2nd Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational to prove it (seriously, i'm not making that up!). In addition to art, fashion & food, I also love gardening, yoga, music & good conversation.
I'm well connected to a number of art & culture scenes around LA, and happily share my knowledge and contacts. Let me know what you need or want to do here, in our space, arts community, or LA at large, and I'll help you figure out how to make it happen. If you're an artist, love the arts, or are just curious about what artists do and how they live, this is a place that will welcome you with a unique creative energy that you're unlikely to find anywhere else.
