Claudia and Franklin are the most gracious hosts I have ever come across! They both went out of their way to accommodate us in every way possible to ensure we had the best time. The grounds and guesthouses were more beautiful than expected. I highly recommend a stay, I know we can't wait to come back.
First special thanks to Claudia and Franklin (the host) they were very informative and helpful in all aspects.first let me start with location, it was close to everything. The place is super clean and very well maintained . The view is breathtaking. In the morning you hear bird symphony coming from the forest. It's secluded place and private. The breakfast is better than a 5 stars hotel. It was prepared by Claudia the host, it's absolutely delicious. If you going to Belize I will highly recommend Vanilla Hills
Our stay at Vanilla Hills was wonderful. We spent 2 nights, and wished we would have stayed longer. Claudia helped arrange transport from the airport to Vanilla Hills, and a trip to the ATM Cave. The people she works with are great, friendly, and made for a really positive introduction to Belize, as this was our first stop in the country. We had Claudia's renowned breakfast, and it was great. My wife had the banana pancakes, and I had the power breakfast with eggs and bacon, and both options were delicious. Claudia was very friendly, helpful, and did everything she could to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. The lodge is outside of the city, so doing anything in San Ignacio requires a cab ride, but Claudia can help to arrange a cab pick-up, and it's a quick ride to the city. Honestly, we didn't spend much time in San Ignacio, and we didn't feel like we missed anything. That area is much better experienced through the Mayan sites, cave tours, and other activities available nearby.
I don’t know if we can say enough great things about Vanilla Hills and the hosts Claudia and Franklin. The bungalow itself is situated in a great location just outside of town and within a beautiful jungle setting. The bungalow has everything you need for a comfortable stay (comfortable bed, warm shower, mini fridge etc), and we definitely took advantage of relaxing on the patio in the hammock! Claudia and Franklin are the perfect hosts and live on the property, so they’re always available to answer any questions, provide travel tips, or arrange a tour or guide. Breakfast and dinner is also available for purchase and we thoroughly enjoyed the food Claudia and Franklin prepared, as well as their enthusiasm for cooking and all of the personal touches that went in to preparing the food. For example, the eggs were from their own chickens, the bread and jam was homemade, the bacon was from a local butcher with quality meats. Everything was local, fresh, and delicious. Dinner was fantastic as well, and we thoroughly enjoyed meals on the patio, conversing with Claudia and Franklin, or other guests who were staying in other bungalows.
Claudia and Franklin provided precisely the experience advertized and more. The cabin was beautiful, and the setting wonderful. Breakfast overlooking the mist rising over the jungle allowed just the right start to the day. Claudia also did a great job of arranging tours and transportation for us. I highly recommend staying at Vanilla Hills and will certainly stay there on my next visit to Belize!
