Hi, I have had such success and met so many wonderful people using AirBnB that I decided why not offer my couch to some travelers who are passing through who don't have too much money to spend. It happens to be a very comfortable couch! 1 person only
From Penn Station or Times Square: Take the 2 or 3 train uptown to 96th st, and then transfer across the platform to the 1 train. Take the 1 train two stops to 110th/Cathedral Parkway. Walk one block east (along 110th/Cathedral) on the south side of the street towards Amsterdam. I am right before Amsterdam.
I have been an AirBnB host for slightly over two years now, and I absolutely love it! I have met so many amazing people from all over the world. When we used to rent out both our couch and our guest bedroom, the two guests fell in love and are now dating in Europe! We are matchmakers too :) They send us pictures from time to time of their adventures!
Now we only rent out the guest bedroom. We keep in touch with a lot of our guests through and have made some wonderful friends and connections.
I am an original New Yorker, but left when I was 18 to attend Tulane University in New Orleans. I then went to graduate school at Griffith University in Australia, then went back to New Orleans for work until I moved back to New York to be closer to my family. My fiancé and I are in one bedroom, and we have a guest room that rent pretty consistently. The money that we receive from AirBnB is helping to pay back our wedding.
