A three bedroom house in Albany has a modest-sized but cozy room with a twin bed, desk, and door opening into the yard. The house is close to lots of great restaurants and bars, as well as the El Cerrito Plaza BART (rapid transit rail) station. Two dogs and three other people share the house, one of them also being an Airbnb guest. There is a shared bathroom, common living room, and common kitchen for your use. Washing machine and dryer are in the garage.

Die Unterkunft
Peace and ataraxia at the end of a long day is so important, especially while traveling!

The room has two doors, one that leads into rest of the house, and the other exits to the garden if you prefer a more discreet entry and egress. This bedroom is smallish, but quite comfortable, and nestled in the back of the house, far from any commotion. Equipped with a twin bed that comfortable fits one grown adult (and also your puppy, if that's how you roll :-). The room has ample closet space, desk and chair workspace, WiFi internet is available, and the room is next to the shared bathroom.

Albany, Kalifornien, Vereinigte Staaten

Albany is a really lovely town! I am very happy to live here and welcome you to experience all that Albany, CA has to offer!

The little hill:
Three blocks behind my house rises the oddly placed Albany Hill which helps to put Albany on the map, and provides spectacular views of the whole area. A hike to the top won't take long and will help you grasp a lay of the land as you gaze upon San Francisco, the Golden Gate bridge, the Marin Headlands, Angle Island, Richmond, El Cerrito, University of California in Berkeley's campus with the iconic clock tower, downtown Oakland, and the new Bay Bridge. I go up there often with my dogs and often times see a flock of wild turkey, and have on a rare occasion seen deer, migratory birds, and raccoons.

Libations:
Crawling distance to some great bars that have been pillars in the community for decades, but have also kept up with the times and offer a hip and modern refuge. Hotsy Totsy, Club Mallard, and the Ivy Room are the best, brightest, and closest of the bunch, each with it's own flavor of fun and funky. If you're interested we can discuss this more ;-)

Restaurants:
Really good and really diverse! Nepalese, Vietnamese, Thai, Mexican, deep dish pizza, sushi, Nicaraguan, India, dim sum, ramen, fusion, BBQ, vegan, seafood, burgers, French, Hawai'ian, cafes, and food trucks. I think there is another section where I can give more specifics on who, what and where, which I'll put some good effort into!

Culture:
Artsy movies at the Albany Theater on Solano Ave. and more mainstream movies at the El Cerrito Theater on San Pablo Ave. There is a karaoke bar in the ECP, Albany Bowl has bowling lanes open late, and the Golden Gate Fields hosts horse racing (be sure to check on $1-Sunday deals!) Live music can be found at several local bars, as well as a stand-up comedy, and amateur performance nights.

Fitness:
Hikes and bikes along the bay trail and numerous parks to explore. Bikram yoga studio on San Pablo, Bridges Climbing Gym behind the little hill, Judo dojo on San Pablo, and pick-up soccer, pickle ball and kick ball at the East shore state park in Berkeley most nights of the week. Also, water sport rentals (such as sailboats, SUP, kayaks, etc.) at the Berkeley Marina, located at the end of University Street.

Safety:
This is very small town which has it's own police force who patrol the area often. The police station is just three blocks away at the corner of Adams and Buchanan. There is also an active neighborhood watch that has daily email updates (not just something set up in the 1980s and never thought of again).
