We had an amazing stay at Teafield guesthouse. Wasuka is an amazing and very charming little village, and the access is quite easy indeed. The whole family was very welcoming and my daughters were happy to spend times with Olivia and Margie. We were happy to have dinner there, which was delicious. So far, our best airbnb experience. We only regret that we did not stay one night longer to visit a tea plantation.

After spending a few busy days in Tokyo, we needed to unwind and explore the countryside before continuing onto the city of Kyoto. As soon as we got off the train at Kamo (the closest JR stop for the guest house) we knew we made the right choice. Surrounded by tea fields, the guest house was a relaxing place to unwind. Michael and his wife Ikuko were very welcoming, and the optional dinner that was provided was well worth it--hands down the best meal we had while in Japan. The included breakfast was fabulous too! Staying with Michael and Ikuko also gave us a glimpse of staying with a Japanese family--a welcome change to many of our other AirBNB experiences where we simply rented an apartment. Michael and Ikuko have a beautiful family and it was a great having the opportunity to spend time with them and learn about their town. While we only spent two nights with them (wish we could have spent more!), we took full advantage of being in the area. One morning, we rented electric bikes from a local store and then spent the afternoon and evening exploring Nara (a short train ride away). If you stay here, be sure to visit D:Matcha Cafe and Kitchen in town. We look forward to our next trip to Japan and will definitely stay here again!

We spent a wonderfull time at Ikuko and Michael's house. We enjoyed the lovely cuisine for dinner and breakfast. They were very nice to pick us at the bus station and give us a lot of advices about Wazuka discoring. Best stay in Japan for us so far !! It's a perfect place to have rest, out of the cities.

The Blodges are a really sweet couple and have an interesting story. This was a nice haven from busy Tokyo and had a wonderful view from the bedroom into the garden and beyond tot he tea fields. They taught me so much about tea and even gave me my very own personal tea tasting of the local tea. Michael took me to meet one of the farmers. I would stay again.

Michael & Ikuko' s place is very nice and clean. They are so welcoming and made us feel like part of their family. They picked us up and dropped us off at the bus station as well as showing us what to do around the town. The communication was excellent and it's very helpful for us to plan our first trip to Japan. The hospitality is amazing and they truly went above and beyond to make our visit a memorable one. Our children really enjoyed being with Margie and Olivia. They played like they had been knowing each other for a long time. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again.

Hi! I'm originally from suburban Chicago, but have now lived in Japan for several years.

Here is the story. At the age of 20 I traveled the world with the international student group Up With People. Following that program, I came to Japan to visit a friend from that group. On that trip, I fell in love with this wonderful girl, and we have been together ever since.

We have traveled the world together and have lived in many places over the years. Our favorite thing has been getting to know people wherever we go. Sharing meals, sharing time, and sharing stories together.

And now, we have moved to a picturesque countryside village of 4000 people with an 800-year-old history of tea growing. The Cradle of Japanese Tea.

Wazuka is filled with beautiful tea fields, rice fields, and mountains, and even better great people. It truly feels like being in a different world, like living in in a simpler time. And yet, we are just a short drive to Nara City, Kyoto, and Osaka

My wife and I have chosen to settle in this amazing place with our two young daughters. And, we really hope to welcome you with our open hearts, our home-cooked meals, friendly conversation, and top-notch hospitality.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Michael, Ikuko, Olivia, and Margaret
