Annette's Honomu home was amazing. My friends and I rented the place for the weekend because we were on the Big Island for a volleyball tournament, and mostly just needed a place to sleep, but Annette's Airbnb went beyond our expectations. The two-floor house is spacious, and provided plenty of room. It easily accommodates 10 people, with lots of space to relax: the porch, the balcony, the backyard patio, living room, and dining area. We had more than enough beds for everyone, and the beds were super comfortable. At night the koqui frogs chirp, but it's not loud enough to hinder your sleep. At night there aren't very many lights, so you can see a lot of stars. The house with its structure and decor feels warm and welcoming—like a home waiting for you to live in. And Annette provides all the little amenities you could ask for, like hairdryers, toiletries, towels, washer and dryer, and a very well-equipped kitchen. The house is right off the road, with parking stalls right in front. Very convenient and flexible checkin and checkout. We made use of the kitchen and the pantry to cook breakfast in the morning to save money. There is also a coffee maker and coffee, which was great because the shops nearby didn't open until later. If you cook in the kitchen, be sure to turn on the vent above the stove so that you don't set off the smoke alarms! As for location, it's a just little bit away from Hilo – about 20 mins drive, which is not bad. We feel that the drive was worth it for the value of the airbnb. The only thing is that in the area, cell phone and internet reception is really poor. If you need to be in contact with other people, keep that in mind. Reception goes in and out—try catching it upstairs or on the balcony. The owner also has a cell phone reception booster in the house. Reception does get much better once you get on the main road. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this charming home, and found ourselves wishing that we could stay longer. We would definitely book this place again.
