Beschreibung

This Room is perfect if you like being close to everything Ghent has to offer. Have a stroll from the house to the historic quarters and loose yourself in the vivid streets of Gent. >The whole 2nd floor is yours + shared bathroom on the 1st. floor.

Our house is located close to the heart of the old city, and still enjoying the calm and quiet of the smaller streets near St Jacobs and the colorful Sleepstraat. After a short 4min walk, you’ll find yourself in one of the most authentic and attractive neighborhoods of the city, known as “Patershol”.

From there on, other quarters and hidden treasures are within walking distance to be discovered. The St-Jacobs (known for its vintage shops and charming flea market, held every Fri-Sat-Sunday morning), the vibrant Vlasmarkt (for having a drink with strangers that will become your very best friends), the green Baudeloo (for a rest under the trees), the historic Vrijdagsmarkt and the Graslei, where many friends and lovers gather near the water to see the time slip by. And so on and on. For years we’re in love with Ghent and therefor most willing to give you all the insider info, all the off-the-beaten-track-tips and nice-to-know-tricks, so you’ll have a most wonderful stay and journey. Next to this, we provide you with a practical guide book, some maps and event calendars.

The accommodation itself consists of 2 recently renovated and trendy rooms. On the second floor, you’ll find a first room – the office – where breakfast can be taken – or a long apero – overviewing the green gardens of our neighborhood. On demand, we can provide an additional baby bed, for which this room might also be ideal. One floor up, connected with a private staircase, you’ll discover the spacious and cozy bedroom, having – next to a lounge – a trendy bed under the skylight. The shared bathroom is on the first floor. Towels and sheets are provided and included in the price.

You'll come and go as you please, as you'll get your own key. Your private rooms on the second floor, as well as the bathroom are easy reachable by the central hallway.

I'm also living with my boyfriend in the house on the first floor, so if you have questions or want a nice, belgian breakfast for 8€p.p you can ask in advance.

Car:

If you're coming by car, you can park in the streets for 6 euro's per day (after 23h00 and on Sundays it's free to park in our neighborhood.

There's also a underground parking spot (165 places), at about 200m from our house, where you can leave your car behind under camera surveillance for €11/day (24h/24h). Address: Tolhuis 77, 9000 Ghent.

By Train / Bus:

If your coming by train, we suggest you hop off the train station called "Dampoort". From there on you walk 500m to the busstop called "Steendam" (if you exit the train station, continue West by crossing the gigantic roundabout, direction the City Centre of Ghent. Just ask "Where's Steendam and everybody will give you the easy directions). At the busstop "Steendam" look for line "5" with indicated endstation "Zwijnaarde Hekers - Gent Van Beverenplein". Once you've catched a bus (€1.60) , the bus driver will explain you with a big smile where you should hop off. In your case, you hop off at "Tolhuislaan". That's just 100m from our doorstep. In 20/25min you should be there.

By Bike:

Best way to visit Ghent, is on foot. But still, if you'd like to do it by bike, or cross the green farmers villages close Ghent, and be a real Flandrien like Eddy Merckx, you can hire different kind of bikes at "Biker", at about 12min walking from the house (Biker, Steendam).

We have a beautiful, nice cat but she won't come near the accommodation, nor the guests. She's just shy.
