W•O•N•D•E•R•F•U•L experience at Drew's lake house. The location is perfect, a short drive to Lake Huron and downtown Oscoda. The house was very spacious and had beautiful views of the lake. Great backyard and plenty of indoor space to gather. We loved the hammock and spent our time kayaking on the water. Thank you for everything, we can't wait to plan a trip back to Oscoda!
Drew is a great host, and the house is spacious and charming. My kids loved the quick trip to the beach (walking out the back door) and the lake was great for swimming. Drew gave great recommendations for activities and restaurants. We had such an amazing time we are considering saving up to buy our own beach house in that area.
House was in great location overlooking beautiful Cedar Lake. Wonderful spot to relax with friends. Lots to do in nearby Harrisville and Oscoda, but we mostly hung around and just enjoyed the peace and serenity. Comfortable home and sleeping accommodations were excellent. Drew made sure we had everything we could possibly need in the kitchen and the yard was also lovely and well maintained. Nice fire pit and Drew left us plenty of wood. Thanks Drew! It was a perfect girls weekend get away spot! Maggie
This house is on a peaceful, quiet lake with a beautiful view. The Drew was very responsive to our needs, there was an issue at check in and he made it right immediately. Renters should know that they will have to sign a separate rental agreement. The work that is expected to be done by renters before check out is very time consuming, including washing all linens and remaking all beds, mopping, running dishwasher and putting all dishes away. It would be easier to bring your own linens. Also worth noting is that the house has a residual smell of cigarette smoke, particularly in the master bedroom. And after the first few feet from shore, the bottom of the lake is squishy. These issues aren't deal breakers, but I wish I had known about them up front.

We are going to change the cleaning policy for future use and simply charge a cleaning fee. Our intention was to give people the option to save a few dollars and do it themselves. Will be looking into the residual cigarette smoke smell as that is a new issue that has crept up from past owners or an irresponsible guest (which based on recent comments may be the case) Either way, the issue will be addressed asap!
Our stay was a mixed bag, but overall was better than not. Drew was a great host. He was very friendly, and quick to respond to any questions or concerns. The outside of the property was fantastic. The calm lake was a great play area for our children, and Drew provides plenty of outside furniture. Everyone loved the hammock! It should also be noted that there is a lot of space, so it's very well suited for the higher number of guests. Inside the house is where we found some underlying issues. First off, let me say that the house was very clean and ultimately in good condition. There is also a lot of space inside - plenty enough for everyone in your party. Our biggest issues that we believe future travelers should be aware of are as follows: - The 2 twin bed room is not private; it has a large opening that makes it more like a loft overlooking into the living room. It was difficult for our party to get to sleep up there while others were still awake downstairs because of the noise traveling upstairs. This isn't stated in the description of the property. - The queen on the bottom of the bunk bed has no mattress, just a mattress pad on top of a wood frame. My wife and I stayed in there with our boys and the sleep was very, very uncomfortable, causing me to wake up nearly every morning with a sore neck. - You'll need to bring your own kitchen utensils and, preferably, pots and pans. We had to buy common things like corkscrews and can openers because they weren't available. The pans were difficult to cook on, so it's recommended you bring your own. Overall, I'd rate our stay as a success due to the outside of the property being so beautiful and accessible. If you are planning on spending a lot of time in the house, just be aware of the above mentioned issues.
Antwort von Drew:
The open room is true and we are working on a solution/ reconfiguration currently. The house is set up for our family and we luckily do not have any sleeping issues as a result of the opening to the downstairs living area. The bunk bed does have a mattress, it is just thin and made specifically for a 'bunk' bed. There is also two layers of foam egg crate. The room is set up for kids so I would not want to sleep in there myself. I am not sure why it is stated to bring your own utensils. The kitchen is plenty stocked, including with pots and pans, silverware, dishes, etc. If the can opener was not located, then it must be misplaced. We will make sure to get a new one. We do our best to provide a comfortable, welcoming home for our guests and luckily, although Jesse does have some valid points his review is outside the norm. We continue to make improvements to the home with every visit our family makes. This home is not a 'vacation only' property but we wanted to be able to share it with other families since it is just a beautiful place as Jesse stated. Thank you for the feedback.
