Beautiful, unique, family owned apartment with bespoke antique interior. Superbly located on Bayswater Road, minutes from Queensway tube and directly opposite Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park. Excellent for a luxury weekend escape, sightseeing or a shopping trip!

The apartment has been in the family for the past 45 years. The initial owner was a celebrated stage/set designer for the London theatre. This influence and his ingenious use of space and illusion is in evidence throughout the flat. The property has recently been completely redecorated whilst maintaining all the bespoke cabinetry and marbled paint effects. The walls of the elegant Drawing Room are covered in natural Irish linen and the paint used throughout the property is eco friendly, Farrow and Ball. In addition, all the appliances have been replaced and upgraded. There is a brand new AEG washer-dryer; Bosch dishwasher; Panasonic fridge-freezer; Samsung microwave; freestanding, two oven, electric cooker with halogen hob. There are two televisions, cable TV and WiFi.

The apartment has three bedrooms; two double bedrooms being available for guest use. The third is off limits and houses personal items and clutter! The rest of the accommodation consists of a bathroom, guest cloakroom, separate dining room, separate eat-in kitchen and a large formal Drawing Room with french doors opening on to a small Juliet balcony overlooking the park. There is also a small balcony off the kitchen which overlooks the back of the building. Your assistance in keeping the plants alive on the Juliet balcony would be most appreciated. I would be very grateful if you could water them at night or first thing in the morning before the sun comes up.

Although I wont be in London during your stay I am only 100 miles away in Norfolk and can be contacted at any time by telephone.

My son and daughter both live in London and can also be contacted should the need arise. On arrival you will be met by either myself or my friend Sufia who will show you around and give you keys.

Bayswater is a very central, safe and popular location for visitors to London. There are numerous hotels nearby and everything you could possibly need or want is virtually on the doorstep. Joggers can rise with the larks and take an early run in Hyde Park. Alternatively, you could take a leisurely stroll across the park to the Royal Albert Hall and continue on to the numerous museums in South Kensington.

If you need your morning hit of caffeine there are many coffee shops and cafes in Queensway where you can sit outside. Delicious sandwiches, muffins, croissants and organic coffee can also be found at Prêt à Manger.

If you love Indian food try Khan's in Westbourne Grove or better still, Masala Grill for Sunday buffet lunch - 535, King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 OSZ. Chutney Mary is also superb, particularly for a very special occasion: 73, St. James Street, London SW1A 1PH. It is a little expensive though.

You are spoilt for choice, with every mode of public transport being available on the doorstep. Queensway and Bayswater tube stations are minutes away. Buses number 94 and 390 pass by. There is also a night bus service once the tubes have ceased to run. It is very easy to hail a black cab on the street outside; usually within seconds. A cab is available for hire if the yellow light is illuminated on its roof.

If you hire a car there are no longer parking meters available near by to use. However, there are parking bays in the side roads which allow you to park for up to four hours. Instructions of how to pay by phone will be displayed on the lamp posts near the parking bay. All day/ night parking is available minutes away at the drive-in National Car Park. Check on line to see what other options are available as there may be cheaper alternatives.

If you prefer to explore London by bicycle, they are available for hire just inside the gates of Kensington Gardens/ Hyde Park located opposite.

The apartment is located in a post-war purpose built block with 24 hour concierge. However, it has it's own front door set back from the pavement on Bayswater Road. It is superbly placed being less than 3 minutes walk from Queensway tube station and five minutes from Bayswater tube station. There are also a number of buses that pass by en route to Marble Arch/ Oxford Street or in the opposite direction, to Notting Hill Gate. Bayswater Road is a busy road and although the property is double glazed and set far back from the road there can sometimes be slight residual traffic noise. However, there has only been one guest, claiming to be a very light sleeper, for whom this has been an issue.

Directly opposite the apartment is Kensington Gardens/ Hyde Park with its 350 acres of parkland and lake. Within the Park is Kensington Palace, currently the London home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The state apartments and formal gardens of the Palace are open to the public.

Guests with children may be interested in visiting the Diana, Princess of Wales' Memorial Children's Playground. A huge, wooden pirate ship is its centre piece. There is also a sensory trail, a beach, teepees and various toys and sculptures for children to enjoy. The mast of the pirate ship can be seen from the apartment, just above the trees.

Turning left out of the property, and only three minutes walk away, is Queensway with its numerous shops, three supermarkets, banks, Boots Pharmacy, Post Office and many restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes. Towards the end of Queensway is the historic Whiteley's building; a former department store which now houses a cinema complex, bowling alley, gym and a collection of shops plus a M&S Food Hall. .

A fifteen - twenty minute walk towards Notting Hill Gate will bring you to the world renowned Portobello Road. Visit on a Saturday, market day, and spend some time rummaging through the antiques/ artifacts for sale, before checking out the hundreds of stalls selling eclectic 'street' fashion, fresh fruit, flowers, souvenirs etc. As you browse, treat yourself to some of the delicious street food on sale along the route. If you are visiting London over the last weekend of August you must visit the Notting Hill Carnival.

On some occasions it might be possible to make special arrangements for either an earlier or later check-in or check-out but this cannot be guaranteed. This would depend entirely on whether the change over of guests occurs on the same day. An additional charge would be made for such a service because it would involve enlisting the services of additional help.

*No addition guests are allowed beyond the number agreed at the time of placing a booking. The flat is an elegant, family home and not a 'crash pad'. The flat accommodates four people comfortably (2 couples) and there is an additional single bed for a fifth person should the need arise.

*Absolutely no smoking and we regret, no pets.

*You are respectfully asked not to drag heavy suitcases across the wooden floor and to avoid wearing shoes/ stiletto heels indoors. Both scratch and damage the wooden floor.

*Although fresh bed linen is supplied, guests are kindly requested to bring their own towels.
