I'm sorry for the noise. Wednesday morning is trash pick up morning for our area, however, and every house in Fayetteville will experience the same noise on trash pick up day. The description of the property on the rental site mentions it is next to a fire station, and it is rare that the trucks are called out after dark, but it does happen sometimes. When it does, the noise is at about the same volume for all the houses in the several block area near downtown as the truck drives through there with its sirens on. In terms of the price, that is determined primarily by location and varies with the seasons. If there are special events nearby, the price is usually more, and if no special events are scheduled, the price is usually less. We have guests who come back again and again because of the proximity to some events they are interested in, such as sporting events. There are some really nice houses in the suburbs available for a lower rate. Houses in our area charge more because guests can walk to the primary entertainment area and downtown, to the regional walking/biking trail, and to the University and to sports events at the University. Those coming in from the suburbs will have to deal with traffic and finding parking once they get there. There are only a couple of hotels in the general downtown/entertainment district area, and they will often cost as much or more to put up the same number of guests, and without a kitchen, two porches and a back yard. Most of the hotels/motels are in the suburbs. We post photos of the house, including photos of every room, in hopes of making it clear that this is an older house, but a very functional and comfortable one, and one with a location that can't be beat for many events. Again, I'm sorry that these guests were not happy with their experience, but hope that others making future trips to Fayetteville will read all the reviews the house has received before making a decision. And I want to reiterate what I said about them in my review of them, which is that they were great guests and took good care of my house.
