When I travel with AirBNB, and rent a private room, I expect some interaction with the local host -- makes traveling alone more interesting. This is NOT such an experience. You will never see or speak with the host, only get texts. For all I know, he is not even in the US. This is a home that has been remodeled and added on to, to make four rooms, basically a 4 room hotel with no services. Not that this situation is bad, just maybe not what you would expect. Just make sure you are aware. Pros: - large room, comfortable bed - good location (but you can hear the freeway as white noise) - the place was clean - washer and dryer -- great if you stay longer or hate to pack dirty clothes Cons: - cold, cold, cold. Because the house was added on to, the HVAC system is undersized or poorly designed. The week I was there, the lows were in the 30s, and I am sure my room (#1) was below 60 (the thermostat 25 feet away said 63), and even when I set the thermostat to 70, my room would never heat up as the air coming out of the vent was anemic at best. I wore all my clothes in the morning when I was up working and was still cold. Other times of the year, this won't be an issue due the mild climate, but Winter, watch out. - no place to meet or chill in, no sofas, no furniture, no TV. Looks like the day before the moving van arrives - kitchen, but no way to cook as there was only a single deep frying pan; nor was their a boiler to make tee with (would have helped with the cold)
