Built in 1839, this rowhouse retains the charm (and quirks) of a century gone by. The top-floor apartment features oak flooring throughout, panoramic views of Seneca Lake, and plenty of bright space. The expansive deck affords views of downtown Geneva and Seneca Lake, and a grill and wooden table provide outdoor dining in the warm-weather months.

Inside, the apartment has two bedrooms (each with a queen-size futon), one bathroom (with shower and jacuzzi tub), a kitchen with gas stove, a living room with fireplace (but no fires, please), and a dining room with a large wooden table that seats eight. The rooms are decorated with posters and pictures from my travels, and there is free wireless internet.

It's a cozy place, full of light and character. I think you'll enjoy staying here, just a few steps from downtown.

Speaking of downtown, the rowhouse is within walking distance of shops and restaurants (Indian, grills, Chinese, coffee shop), Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Pulteney Park, and the lakefront (which includes both Lakefront Park and Seneca Lake State Park). This section of town is in the Historic District, containing dozens of brightly-colored rowhouses from the 19th Century.

A short drive brings you to the Seneca Lake Wine Trail and over 60 wineries, Watkins Glen State Park and its ancient gorges, the Waterloo Outlet Mall, great hiking trails (including Ontario Pathways and the Keuka Lake Outlet Trail), and Finger Lakes National Forest. In summer months you can sail, swim, canoe, kayak, and kiteboard on Seneca Lake.

Jeff's apartment is very spacious and has a beautiful view to offer. The beds are very comfortable and everything was clean. We enjoyed staying there and would book again!

Jeff was a wonderful host. Lovely apartment with a beautiful back deck and view of the lake. Nice clean and spacious, near downtown Geneva with easy access to the rest of the Finger Lakes. Very convenient to coordinate check in and anything we needed throughout our stay. Would definitely stay again!

Jeff was quick on responses when acquiring about the house and location. The location couldn't be any more spectacular! The sunrise over the lake was so nice to wake up to. We did the trolley tour from the station winery and it was so much fun. For being someone who has come to the finger lakes twice before it was a different experience being in Geneva. Fun and unique little town. Hopefully Jeff will still be renting next year if we come back!

I really wanted to like Jeff's apartment. I was planning our first family trip with our 1-year old and looking for a place in the Finger Lakes. I found Jeff's apartment a few days before our trip, and Jeff was super responsive. His listing sounded great, as his apartment was walkable to the lake and downtown Geneva, and it would be a good launching point for other Finger Lakes destinations. As his listing noted there is no central a/c in the unit, we brought our own window fans in anticipation of managing the temperature inside the apartment (we also live in a 100+ year-old, multi-story home with no central a/c and know how to manage the temperature in our home). We planned to relax by streaming movies using the wifi after our daughter went to sleep. Unfortunately, our vacation did not go as smoothly as hoped. The Good -Jeff responds to emails within 24 hours -Apartment is centrally located in Geneva -Getting into the apartment was very easy -Apartment was larger than expected The Tolerable -Apartment is tidy, but not clean - some surfaces were pretty grimy, including the dining table, kitchen floor and under the futon in the living/dining room (another reviewer also noted the apt could have been more thoroughly cleaned) -Street noise is pretty loud as the apartment is on a main street -Church bells ring at 9pm every night for 5 minutes -Car needed to be moved due to street parking hours - not a huge deal The Intolerable -Temperatures in the apartment never went below mid-80s even in the evenings with windows open and fans (that we brought) blowing; it was cooler outside -Wifi signal was not strong enough to browse internet on the network let alone stream content - as expressed to Jeff in an email, it is dishonest to say there is wifi available for this listing; it is also not a reasonable solution to suggest we go down to the chairs outside on the second floor, leaving our sleeping daughter alone in the unlocked apartment If you are traveling with young children during the hot summer months, I would not recommend staying here. We ended up staying only 4 of the 6 nights we had planned, leaving the apartment cleaner than when we arrived. I asked Jeff for a refund for the 2 nights we did not stay, and this is where things went south. Jeff asked for clarification about the refund request, which I provided, declined the refund stating, among other arguments, that the weather is out of his control and had we been staying at a hotel, they would not have provided a refund. Although I agree that the weather is out of his control, letting renters know the apartment can be unbearable in high temperatures is completely within his control. Had I been staying at a hotel, they would have refunded me for the nights I did not stay AND given me points. It's unfortunate that our first family...

Jeff's apartment was great - open and cozy, just as described. The neighborhood is quiet and easily walkable to restaurants and other amenities in the town of Geneva. It was also a great departure point for many of the restaurants, vineyards, and breweries we wanted to visit along both sides of Seneca Lake.

I enjoy traveling just as much as staying home. My favorite way to travel is on the seat of a bicycle - I've been across 14 countries this way! When I'm home, I like to be outside... hiking, camping, biking, running, skiing, swimming. Home is a cozy place to return after a day of fresh air.

In 2012 I spent a month cycling around the Baltic Sea. I stayed with many Airbnb hosts and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each of them. Since then I have enjoyed being a host in Geneva and being hosted worldwide.
