Beautiful traditional japanese house. It's located right near a JR Station, so travelling to the City center is very easy. There is a washing Maschine in the house which all guests can use(very nice!). All in all a good AirBnB experience.

Had a very good stay. Everything as expected, managed to follow the directions to the house in the dark. Small and basic room, but a nice common area and kitchen. Some thoughtful extras supplied including coffee, soap, shampoo, conditioner, detergent and a number of towels. Place was very clean and tidy. Didn't interact much with the hosts in person, but always received prompt replies from them through the app.

This place is clean and the bathroom is nice. The walls between the rooms are very thin though, so it can be very noisy. We were able to leave our luggage in the living room before check-in time, which was nice. However, when we arrived at the Airbnb, another girl was in our room. Apparently the host gave wrong information to that girl. We solved the problem ourselves and the girl went to the other room. On our last day, a big group of approximately 15 people came to the Airbnb and claimed that they booked the entire house a month ago. That isn't possible, because we and two other girls were still staying there. The big group was very loud and messy and that made our stay uncomfortable. I don't know what the reason is behind this bad arrangement, but if you come here, you might expect some arrangement issues. Lastly, there is a strange hole on the ground in front of the kitchen. I accidentally fell in it and broke two pieces of glass window. Luckily, I'm not injured. I had to pay a pretty expensive fee, which I did, but now that I'm thinking back, I should've talked to the host about the danger of the hole in the kitchen, so no more people will get hurt. I won't be coming back to this Airbnb.

If you want to be close to downtown/restaurants/bars don't stay here. You can get to all those things but only after 40+ minutes of walking/bus transit. 100% chance you're going to need an all day bus pass every day that you're here (¥500). Wifi info isn't found anywhere other than on router itself, so at first I didn't think there was wifi until I saw the router (white dog unit next to tv). There's only one toilet for four rooms and two showers, but there are washers (no driers) for laundry so that's nice. Host is very helpful and responsive :) if you want to escape from the city and check out shrines then this is the place for you. There were a couple bugs in my room over the course of my stay, which normally wouldn't be an issue for me but you sleep on a small mattress on the floor so that was kind of uncomfortable. Overall the host was great and the space was a solid 3 stars.

Great value crashpad for a couple of nights. This place was very clean and spacious with a well-equipped kitchen including proper gas stove which was useful for cooking cheap meals some nights instead of going out. There was also a spacious fridge and every room had a basket in the fridge which I thought was a clever idea instead of having to label things individually. The directions to the place were very clear and easy to follow and the self check-in was very convenient. I did not meet the host but I did see his mother a couple of times; she was very sweet and friendly even though we exchanged few words. I cannot fault this place and would recommend it particularly for solo travellers looking for a cheap but comfortable place to rest while in Kyoto. A couple of things to note (these are just considerations for potential guests, not problems!) - Noise travels very easily so if you are a lighter sleeper, want early nights, or are bothered by hearing other guests (snoring, talking, coughing etc) this might not be suitable. Unfortunately the other guests while I was staying were not very discreet (talking loud and allowing doors to slam late at night etc) or but this of course wasn't the host's fault! So just be mindful that even though bedrooms are private, you're not completely insulated from other guests' behaviour. - One night it rained heavily and the noise of the rain was very loud on the corrugated roof just outside my bedroom and it meant I slept quite poorly. Again this is not the fault of the host (they cannot control the weather or change the roof!) but keep this in mind if you are a light sleeper as I am. - The bedroom doors have (frosted) glass panels so if a light is on outside (e.g. Hallway), it might be bothersome for some people if they prefer to sleep in complete darkness. Wasn't a problem for me though. - Location is fine if you will mainly be spending time around Kyoto station or nearby, but if you want to go further afield or less central, you should check how to get there from Emmachi station. I went on a hike from Kurama and had to take 3 or 4 trains to get there which took a while. That was my mistake so if you have a lot planned in a day, check this beforehand. Other than these things to consider, a really great stay! ありがとうございます!
