The Old Farrowings is a luxury peaceful cottage, restored and converted to a very high standard, set within 100 acres of private grounds.

There is a south-facing private patio area, with table, chairs and barbeque with stunning views overlooking the hills. Private tennis court (rackets and balls available). Walk via footpath to The Waterloo Inn or Biggin Hall Hotel for excellent food and drinks.

The Old Farrowings has accommodation all on one level apart from 2 steps which lead into the bedroom. Fully equipped with free Wifi , Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, wood-burning stove with basket of logs and kindling, TV, DVD and Bluetooth Speaker. Large selection of board games, jigsaws, DVD's and walking guides.

The bedroom has a king-sized 4-poster bed with goose-down duvet, feather pillows & 100% cotton linen. There is a TV in the bedroom as well as an antique sofa. En-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower (not power shower), hand-basin & loo with a heated towel rail. Soft white fluffy towels and complimentary 'Au Lait' toiletries.

Walk directly from your back door to historic village of Hartington, the River Dove and beyond. Explore the Georgian Market town of Ashbourne (Gateway to the Peak District) and the Spa town of Buxton, famous for its' annual Opera Festival. Forage for antiques in Leek. Derbyshire's jewel, Chatsworth House is just 20 minutes drive.

Plenty of secure storage for bikes. A central laundry area has a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board and also a pay phone.

Mobile phone signal can be patchy depending on your network - reasonable coverage for O2 and Orange/EE. Free Wifi.

Lage

Biggin, Vereinigtes Königreich

Biggin is a small village but we are fortunate to have a very friendly pub, The Waterloo Inn, and also Biggin Hall which is a country house hotel. Ashbourne, a Georgian market town, renowned for it's antique shops is a 15 minute drive away and has lots of independent shops with great butchers, delis and clothes shops. In Ashbourne you will find M & S Food, Sainsbury's, Aldi, Majestic Wine plus lots more.
Buxton, with its stunning Regency crescents, is a Spa town and still the original water runs freely so you can fill up your bottles for free! Again, there is a Waitrose, Morrisons, Aldi, M & S plus much more.
Also nearby are Bakewell, Leek and Matlock offering lots to visitors.
The Tissington Trail can be reached from the village and this is perfect for cycling or walking and it can take you further afield for the more adventurous!
Carsington Water is ideal for watersports with plenty of sailing plus walking and cycling.
If you are wanting a bit more adrenaline then Alton Towers or Go-Ape are not far away.
We are so lucky to have Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Kedleston Hall, Tissington Hall and many more country houses a short drive away.
So much to do!

I moved to Derbyshire 25 years ago from London after I married my husband, Richard, who grew up in The Peak District and we wanted to return to this beautiful part of England. We bought Biggin Grange in 2000 and it is a fantastic family home where my 3 children have had a wonderful place to grow up. Despite them all working or at University they love to return and enjoy the Derbyshire countryside and space we are lucky to live in.
