Transport yourself to a Hansel and Gretel style cottage in a forest on an island where you can see wildlife up close in their natural environment. Only 4 hours from Melbourne. Imagine yourself relaxing in the hammock looking out to the lake and beach as time stands still and you breathe in the fresh sea air. We are very sorry pets are not permitted here due to sensitive nature of wildlife. We live permanently at the property in the main house to which the cottages are attached.
Self-contained Tudor cottages were built about 30 years ago by a German craftsman and feature many unique features such as handmade headlight windows, handmade wrought iron light fittings and German tiles and wallpapers. Note: small bathroom is downstairs and bedrooms upstairs. The compact kitchen has full size fridge, caravan style cooker with 2 burners, microwave. We have a mix of rain and bore water, so you may like to bring your own water if you are used to fluoride and chlorine taste. We live permanently in the main house.

Tony, Mia and I live in the main house at Swan Cove so we are here if you need any assistance or would like to explore the enclosed vege/chicken garden or need advice on bushwalking etc, otherwise we will leave you to your privacy.
If you need the laundry please ask as it is a shared facility. There is a clothes airer under the stairs.

Stop Press! Please note the main ferry is still out of service so transport to the island is by way of free water taxi. We will pick you up in our car and drive you to the cottage. You will need to leave your car in the designated secure car park in Paynesville. There is a free community bus on the island during this time.
Normally the ferry runs every 20 minutes from the Raymond Island side and more often at peak times and stops at midnight Fri/Sat night and 11pm weeknights. Cost is $12 return for cars and free for passengers and cyclists. There are no cafes/shops on the island, however we can provide a breakfast basket upon request, from $20 for two. Includes eggs from our heritage hens, home-made jams and granola, sourdough bread, greens and herbs from the garden. Sometimes we can provide dinner or even lunch but this must be booked in advance, cost is from $25 per head.
Swan cove is not a party house, people stay here for the peace and quiet of our abundant nature and wildlife. We do not allow pets due to the sensitive nature of the wildlife particularly the koalas. No smoking in the cottages and if you do smoke outside please dispose of cigarette butts in the bins as these are toxic to marine animals. Please note the cottages are back to back and loud noises will travel through the walls, so be respectful of other guests and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm.
