I can arrange transport to the house by taxi or other means. There is a tour operator (Afri Roots) close to the house who can help with travel and tour plans. I am sometimes around and sometimes not depending on my work, and our housekeeper can also help with questions.

Some anti-scam tips: 1) Don't openly take photos on the ferry (there are inconspicuous notices not to take photos, and if you do someone might try to scare you that they will report you to police and extract a bribe from you). 2) When buying a sim card be aware that sometimes the seller can offer to help you buy a week or month data bundle and take money for it but then only buy a daily bundle for you - if buying a Tanzanian sim card just buy the sim card itself and then I can help you buy the bundles using my mobile money accounts. 3) Be vigilant about pickpocketing on ferry.
Given that parts of the roof are thatch, please take extra care with anything which could cause a fire. No smoking inside the house please.
Waste guidelines: Follow the rubbish separation between bio-degradeable and non-bio-degradeable rubbish/trash in separate bins. Minimise non-biodegradeable waste through minimising plastic bags and unnecessary packaging. If at all possible avoid disposable nappies for infants and disposable pads. I prefer you to use the water dispenser for drinking water (and make a financial contribution if you drink a lot) than bringing too many disposable water bottles. These are not hard and fast rules but rather I prefer guests who help to minimise non-biodegradeable waste.
I enjoy Airbnb hosting and have met many interesting and nice people through Airbnb. I am Irish, I have lived in Dar es Salaam for many years and speak fluent Kiswahili as well as English, and I enjoy practicing my basic French and German with guests too. I have two children aged almost 5 and 7, who also enjoy hosting other children!
