The Mimosa Suite has 12 foot ceilings, a 19th century Louisiana antique armoire, and sleigh bed. The bathroom is enormous, with an oversized antique clawfoot tub (handheld seated shower head only!) Our art-filled house is ideally located between the French Quarter and City Park. Sip coffee or Sazeracs on the balcony, spend your afternoons in the saltwater pool surrounded by fig, banana and orange trees. On a bike path, with bikes at no extra charge. Welcome to our circa 1890 mansion!

Der Wohnraum

Stay in one of the grand historic mansions that line Esplanade Avenue; in our opinion, one of the most beautiful streets in the city, with huge live oaks shading the street. Your suite includes a large private bedroom and enormous, gorgeous bathroom with a porthole window, as well as shared access to the large upstairs balcony overlooking the avenue and our trees. Wonderful for your morning coffee or sunset cocktail on the chaise. We also have a beautiful secluded saltwater swimming pool for those hot days.

There is a mini fridge to cool your drinks and doggie bags, and a coffeemaker provided.

Our home is full of bohemian decor and fine art for your enjoyment.

Zugang für Gäste

You enter the home on the ground floor and proceed upstairs to your suite. We live on the first floor, and we have a friend who lives upstairs who may check you in and orient you to the house. We also have an employee or two who occasionally work from the upstairs office on weekdays.

The bedroom is private to you. The pool, balcony and front porch are shared with us and our tenants. On weekdays during work hours, our employee may share the bathroom.

Interaktion mit Gästen

We live on site, and you are always welcome to contact us, or our house manager (upstairs tenant) with any needs or questions. You may also come and go without seeing us at all, depending on your schedule!

Weitere wichtige Infos

We have two friendly dogs on the first floor and the house manager has a third who lives upstairs, all medium-size and very loving. You may not see them at all, or you may see them in the yard or foyer.

Our bathroom features one of the biggest antique tubs you may ever bathe in! However, while it has an attached shower head which can be used while sitting, it **does not have a standing shower.**

A stay at the mansion on Esplenade is marked by character and charm - an authentic New Orleans experience. Your hosts Jeanne and Robert are warm, inviting, and incredibly knowledgeable about the city. They will steer you in the right direction at every turn. The neighborhood is perfectly positioned between the French Quarter and City Park and is a short walk from lovely restaurants, coffee shops (check out the Pagoda around the corner - Brooklynites will feel at home), wine bars, and eateries. If you’re from a swanky metropolitan city and used to hotels with sparkling amenities, do not make the mistake of shying away from the mansion and it’s old world charm. What it lacks in heated bathroom tiles and bath towels folded into swans, it more than makes up for in actual warmth and coziness. Be sure to have a cup of coffee with Robert and ask him about his experiences as an artist. He’s a huge deal in the NOLA art community! Have a great stay!

If you're looking for a cozy, awesome airbnb, look no further! Jeanne and Bob have the most incredible space, which is actually more like an art museum. Everywhere you turn, there's something new to look at. The room is so spacious and has a very bohemian feel. The balcony is perfect for a morning cup of coffee, and don't even get me started on the giant bathtub! They also have two adorable dogs that are extremely friendly and sweet. We came and went throughout our stay, but we're lucky enough to have breakfast served by our gracious hosts on our last morning. We cannot wait to come back and visit!

Jeanne and Bob were fantastic hosts - we had privacy when we wanted it, and great conversations with them when we were looking for assistance or recommendations. They're seriously knowledgeable about New Orleans and the area, and you should really take their advice when it comes to dining out. As for the accommodations: the bed and pillows are sooo comfortable, and I'm really picky when it comes to sleep comfort. The AC and the ceiling fan help keep the room cool on those humid nights, and the bathroom is bigger than my bedroom at home (seriously, it's huge). Showering while sitting in the bathtub was a new experience for me, but it's easy enough to manage. There's all kinds of great art around the place, and being in a grand old home like that felt like a perfect way to start and end our days exploring New Orleans. The balcony is a lovely spot to hang out in the morning and evenings... word to the wise, if mosquitoes like you as much as they like me, bring some kind of repellent with you. Also, I would recommend good earplugs as the dogs outside may wake you in the a.m. with their friendly barking. And if you want to sleep in, bring an eye mask too, so the light coming in through the windows doesn't wake you. (The curtains cover the bottoms of the windows so you have privacy, but they let in light at the top.) I couldn't be happier with the choice we made to stay there, and to spend a week in New Orleans. It was spectacular!

We loved our stay! We felt very safe and liked the quiet neighborhood but easy access where we wanted to go. There are coffee shops and restaurants near by so we could fuel up before heading out for the day. Bob and Jeanne are fascinating people and it's worth your time to get some insights and recommendations from them!

Wow- what an amazing place. Both Jeanne and Robert (Tannen) were fantastic to interact with, helpful and thoughtful throughout our stay. Their home is comfortable, over the top beautiful and highly recommended. From the tub to the pool, the collection of art and the balcony- there are many highlights. Plus a friendly dog who loves belly rubs. 10 stars!
