One level, charming cottage with private keyless entry includes: large living room, fully equipped kitchen, separate bedroom and full bath. Easy access to downtown, SE Division St. and 4 short blocks to the MAX Orange Line for light rail service. Free on street parking is available right outside the house.
Behind our 1895 Victorian home, this rental is a stand alone carriage house converted into a charming guest house to accommodate up to 4 people. The 576 sq ft space has a bedroom with a full size (double) bed and standard closet, spacious living room, fully equipped kitchen and full bathroom. Just off the bedroom is a rustic, hand built green house with beautiful stained glass panels.
The living room offers a queen size sleeper sofa as well as other seating options for resting after a full day on the town or curling up with a book. The unit does not have a TV; however free wi-fi is available for your streaming pleasure.
The fully appointed kitchen is small but nonetheless equipped with glasses, silverware, plates, bowls, mugs, pots, skillet, cooking utensils, full size refrigerator, full size electric range and oven, microwave and coffee pot, dish soap, drainer and towels (no automatic dishwasher.) We keep it stocked with cooking oil, salt, pepper and occasionally a few other goodies. Custom tile work livens up the space.
The bathroom has a standard size bathtub/shower combination, sink and toilet. When the weather is cooler, you may choose to take advantage of the ceiling heat to keep the chill off after your shower. We keep the bath stocked with the basics (toilet paper, soap and plush towels) and also provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
Although originally a carriage house, the unit is very well insulated and stays nice and warm with electric base board heaters and warm cork floors. Separate thermostats control the bedroom and the main living area which also has a ceiling fan for gently circulating the air as needed. A window air conditioning unit is available for the warm temperatures in the summer.
Covered bike storage is in an adjoining greenhouse.

A short garden path through our yard leads to your private entrance. If we are unable to greet you personally, our keyless entry system makes things easier. You will gain access with a private code provided to you prior to arrival - no keys to keep up with while you are here! We do enjoy tending the garden or enjoying the yard when the weather is nice and the patio furniture is out. You are welcome to do the same!

We are a family of four. You may encounter our children (ages 7 and 10) playing in the yard. Molly, our 6-year old very friendly and gentle yellow lab may alert us to comings and goings. We do not leave her unattended in the yard and you will not hear her barking endlessly. Please note that we are unable to accomodate traveling pets.
No smoking anywhere on the property.
As this is a residential neighborhood, quiet hours are 10pm-6am.
Please be respectful of our neighbors with regard to noise and parking.
I moved to Portland in 1996 after living "east of the Mississippi River" for 28 years. Having moved around a lot while growing up, Portland is the first place that has ever felt like home! I have a wonderful family - two kids, a wife and a dog. We are a pretty easy going crew, enjoy being outside, cooking healthy food and reading.
I love to travel - although these days, we mostly camp. I sailed around the world years ago and still have some dream destinations on my list - including Africa, Iceland and Greece.
I can't live without good friends, books, chocolate, music and plants!
