Welcome to my cozy downtown flat! The location is ideal for a couple on holiday and the quiet building is great for work trips. Please reserve no more than one month in advance, unless your stay is 10+ days.
This tastefully furnished studio is walking distance from everything "Chicago" - the sight seeing, the best restaurants, night life, major bus and train portals, and of course, Michigan Ave and its Magnificent Mile of shopping. This is an ideal location for visitors, and the space is perfect for two people! The queen sized bed is always lined with fresh sheets, the bathroom with clean towels and shampoos, and the kitchenette with all the tools you need for a night in. The building is said to have belonged to Al Capone's men in the 1920s, and still holds some of the charm from Chicago's storied era. The tree-lined street is one of the most architecturally decorated in Chicago, with several famous homes, including Ernest Hemingway's former residence where he lived with his first wife in 1921 before moving to Paris.
While there are some Chicago visitor information materials available in the apartment, I'm always happy to guide you around the city to the hottest, most notable destinations no matter what your budget, taste, or interest.
Looking forward to hosting,
The place is all to yourself, with a kitchen and bathroom. I will provide a street parking permit if you are arriving by car for an additional $10/night and I am providing 4G WiFi access for no additional charge.
Need a bicycle with a basket? Let me know!
I may not be there to greet you, but I'm always around when you need something! We will stay in touch by phone and email, and once you book, I'll provide very simple instructions on how to get the keys.
Welcome to the prettiest neighborhood in Chicago and one of the most affluent in the country! The streets attached to your accommodation are some of the oldest, and most sophisticated in downtown. This vintage studio is within walking distance to all the major destinations and transit connections.
The Gold Coast district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
While most attractions such as museums, parks, and shopping are a pleasant walk on warmer days, there are several major north-south and east-west bus routes, as well as the Clark & Division train stop.
Note: The bathroom is small but fully operational with hot water, bath products, and clean towels!
Greg's studio was conveniently located close (10-15 min walk) to the main shopping district (Michigan Avenue/Magnificent Mile ) and not more than 15 min cab ride from most tourist sites. However when it came to cleanliness it did require some work (especially in the bathroom area). For the price I expected a bit more, especially as hotels are comparable in the area. All in all it was still a good stay.
The apartment is nice. The location is good. Perfect for 1 or 2 persons.
Great studio, neat and clean, superb location, I would certainly come back again!
Mixed emotions on Greg's place. It truly is a marvelous location. Walking distance to old town, the loop, magnificant mile, the lake, river, etc. Beautiful neighborhood, restaurants on every corner. Easy check in/out, a good bed and quiet surroundings made for a good's night rest. Our complaint was cleanliness. The bathroom was off putting but as others have mentioned nothing a good scrubbing can't cure.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Greg's studio for a quick getaway to Chicago. Overall, the experience with Greg was excellent. He promptly responded to our reservation request and upon arrival we found his studio very neat and clean. Also, the location couldn't have been better. Extremely walkable to shops and restaurants and to the Clark/Division Red Line subway/L stop.
I have been at Greg's Apartment from 25th Sep - 03rd Oct. 2013.
Although I did not Greg in person, we had always a good communication via email and phone. He was very helpful in many things and very kind. When I got a question he answerd quick.
One can trust him for sure ;-)
Gold Coast is a perfect and very nice Location in the north of Chicago. You just have a few minutes of a walk to the lake or in Downtown City (15 min). It is really great!!!
I would stay there again.
Apartment: Enough space for two people. It Is quiet. The style inside is nice. I did not use the kitchen. But u have one. A weired smell comes from the washbasin there. But just when u stand there.
The bath is older and not a "wellness oases".It was mentioned before, but it was for 8 days ok.
Thanks a lot for the place out there.
This was my first time trying airbnb for last minute work travel. It was easy to check in and check out. The location was central for my needs and it was mostly a crash pad while I was running around the city. Like the others say the bathroom could have used some bleach but what else do you expect from a true vintage Chicago apartment. Greg was super flexible and communicative, I didn't have many questions since I lived in the city but he was patient while I figured out how to book my first stay.
Greg's place is in a fantastic location, and looks just like the pictures. Lots of places to walk to from the apartment, and the train is nearby. Check in/out was super easy (thanks for being flexible, Greg!) and he was easy to get in touch with. I agree with other reviewers that the bathroom is in need of a good scrub down (nothing that a maid or a really good cleaning couldn't fix). For me, it was more of an issue than for my husband. In my husband's words "Bathroom is all business, no pleasure." Bed was very comfy and studio is spacious considering it's a studio. A cute place.
This studio was a great value in terms of cost vs location. Just like other reviewers have stated, the studio worked out great as a home base for my wife and I. We mostly just slept there, and it would have still been an excellent value if that was all we used it for... great bonuses that came in very handy for us: high speed Internet for the day I had to actually do some work, the iron and ironing board, on-premises laundry machines, readily available parking passes (we rented a car for one night of our week-long visit. finding parking was easy and we just had to leave 10 bucks in the drawer). Communication with the owner was simple and prompt. Recommend.
The studio was pretty much as you see it in the pictures. Clean and cute. It was within a 5 minute walk to the lakefront and about a 15 minute walk to the Magnificent Mile. The building is very quiet, so you won't have any problems sleeping. The neighborhood is beautiful! A farmer's market sets up a couple of blocks from the building on Saturday mornings during the summer and there's a nice restaurant/shopping district five minutes away. If bars are your sort of thing, there are a few nice bar choices just a couple of blocks away; they are conveniently close enough for you to safely walk home afterward, yet far enough away that you don't have to deal with any bar-related ruckus.
Greg is a very helpful host. Check-in/check out was a breeze.
