Description of the apartment -
· Beautiful and bright 2 bedroom apartment on the top (6th) floor of an 100-year-old modernist building, renovated outside and inside. The ceilings are still the originals, with artistic moldings. There is an elevator, air conditioning, central heating, and a full kitchen with granite countertop, pots & pans, dishes, etc. One full bathroom with shower, toilet, sink. The living room has a dining table and chairs, a sofa bed with an additional 175cm pull-out bed, a 21-inch TV, DVDs, etc. The apartment fits up to 6 although an occupancy of 4 would be the ideal for the size.

The building's roof terrace is just upstairs from the apartment, with tables and chairs, plenty of sunshine, and views to Sagrada Familia. Please note it is a shared terrace.

Description of location -
· The apartment is located in the beautiful Eixample, halfway between Gaudi's La Pedrera (also known as Casa Milà) on the Passeig de Gracia, and Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia, just a ten-minute walk from either one. Casa Amatller and Casa Batlló are at the same short distance as well. The Eixample district has the most beautiful Art Nouveau architecture in the city dating from the last half of the XIX century.
There are many cafes, restaurants, tapas bars, and shops in the neighborhood also. Almost all buildings in the area are at least 100 years old. The 115-year-old Market of La Concepció, where you can do your grocery shopping in a traditional setting, is just 200 meters from the apartment. This market has fresh meat, produce, and cheeses, similar to the more famous Boqueria market, but less crowded and does not have some of the more exotic things.
The Eixample is recommended as a convenient location to see the different sight around the city, but not as crowded as the Old City. You can get a taste of real local life.

Transportation -
· There is a bus stop on the corner right by the apartment that will take you to almost all the places of interest in the city, if you don't feel like walking. The city buses are nice and modern, and run often. The apartment is also less than 5 minutes walking from the metro station of Verdaguer, on both the yellow and blue lines. One stop away is the upscale shopping street, Passeig de Gracia, though you can easily walk there from the apartment. Three stops away is Plaza Catalunya (the very center of the city and also walkable) and the start of Las Ramblas, and the beaches are just five stops away. Four stops away you have the Old Cathedral and the Picasso Museum. There is also a parking garage close to the apartment, although renting a car in Barcelona is not recommended.

About the management -
· We are a small family company. Lauren is from Dallas, TX and Fernando is from Barcelona, Spain. We currently run 20 holiday apartments in Barcelona, 7 in Istanbul, Turkey, and 2 furnished homes in Dallas. We try to apply our same high standards in every country.

The apartment and staff were both awesome! The apartment is a little smaller than the pictures let us to believe but it wasn't a problem for us! The roof deck was fun in the afternoon for some rosé and a snack.

Excellent location in an attractive barrio, the Dreta de l'Eixample. This is an area built mostly in the late 18th and early 19th century and it is peppered with some attractive 'modernisme'. Its lively but not hectic like the barrio gothic or ciutat vella. This small two bedroom apartment is within 15/20 minute walk of Gaudi's Casa Battlo, La Pedrera (on upmarket Passeig de Gràcia) and his Sagrada Familia which is a few blocks to the west. Barcelona has very good public transport and both it's metro and bus systems are accessible in 5 to 8 mins walk from here. The area has some nice cafes and restaurants mingled with offices and accommodation; small supermarkets are close by and are open late so you can pick up what you need for self-catering. The very good Mercat de la Concepcio is close to Fernando's flat too and has everything else including a bigger supermarket (underneath the main floor), fresh fruit stalls, flowers, butchery, bakery/patisserie and delicatessen for all that delicious Spanish 'jamon'. For decent cheaper restaurant food try Snack55 on Passeig de St Joan. There are others, but for really good Italian food try a new place just around the first corner to the north east. Sorry I forget the name and its too new to be on street view. They do 'take-out' pizza, salad etc too. This property is offered by an agency and we had an issue with the greeter not turning up - which we believe owner Fernando will resolve. Judging by other reviews this seems to have been a one off problem too. We provided Fernando with some detailed feedback on issues such as the constantly varying shower water temperature ( a nuisance) and how the flat is currently prepared for rent. The owner just needs to re-focus on small details in our opinion and I wouldn't be put off by this at all. As others have said the roof terrace is a great asset. We used it to eat and to hang out family laundry. The air-conditioning is effective. The lift was perfectly good and without it the stairs would be a grind when returning tired from a lot of urban walking. There are about 7 or 8 steps before you access the lift which would be awkward if you'd a small child in a buggy. We felt the building and the flat itself were very secure. We followed advice about closing windows and so forth when we went out, but its on the sixth floor and the door has an awesome espagnolette lock system in addition to a code operated electric lock. Access to both building and flat is by code, with the flat key just giving that additional layer of security. Noise wasn't a great problem for us at all but see comments made by others. Lovely, cosy and comfortable little space which our family of 4 enjoyed. For us having a separate room for our young children is an important criteria as...

We had a great stay at the apartment, the location is brilliant with restaurants literally next door and twelve minute walk to casa batllo and a few minutes walk to the tube. The area is friendly and full of restaurants but feels like a haven from the city. We attempted walking to the beach on the first day which we managed but was a bit hot-would recommend getting the tube-cheap and convenient. Communication was excellent with Fernando and his staff member Eduardo, who sorted the internet out quickly after we raised it, we were too busy to see him but that wasn't a problem! The views from the apartment are lovely with the shuttered old apartments opposite and the roof terrace where we watched the sunset next to the sagrada familia with a gin and tonic. I particularly loved the shutters as it meant I got great nights of sleep (and sometimes a siesta ) and let me tell you I don't sleep ANYWHERE but I slept like a log here. If you stay you MUST go to La Perla de Oro a few mins walk away, amazing tapas and salads, lovely owner. I would have happily eaten there every night. We also went to Montvinic in town for food and wine and Paradiso for cocktails, both recommended for a treat. Taxis are quite reasonable (about 8 euros from the beach area) if you miss the last tube! We had a wonderful time in Barcelona and so glad we stayed at Fernando's, the only minor criticism being the decor is a tad old and it wouldve been nice to have a little bit of washing powder for the machine or some water/milk in the fridge on arrival, but we realise it is self catering apartments, and there is a corner shop across the road. Highly recommended stay, very happy tourists

This apartment is in a fantastic location, and had everything we needed for a family of four (we had two girls, ages 8 and 4, and they loved it...and slept well!). It's in a great neighborhood, easy walking distance to multiple transit lines on Barcelona's excellent transit system, and tourist sites such as La Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, and about a 30 (adult speed) to 45 minute walk (4-year old speed) from Barri Gòthic. The roof-top terrace was lovely, though we did not use it much, and the apartment has air conditioning for the hot days. L'Eixample is a fantastic neighborhood, with little cafes and bakeries and book shops, and every street brings something new and interesting. Check-in was simple with a door code, and on check-out, they let us store our luggage in their office, which is just a few doors down and around the corner. Minor Cons: We did not use the wi-fi, though tried it and could not get it to work (but admittedly, we did not try too hard), and had a little bit of trouble figuring out the washer/dryer (lots of inexplicable icons, and we had mixed success with this appliance). We would happily return!
