Extra large outdoor living area overlooking Morwong Beach

Overlooks beach. Quiet area with easy walks through 'Ramsar' melaleuca wetland and mangrove areas. Take an early morning stroll along deserted sandy beaches which surround ¾ of the island. If you are a golfer or would like to learn there is a 9 hole golf course which welcomes new comers and has regular lessons and social events. Join Coastare volunteers weeding and undertaking restoration work around the island followed by either a BBQ or morning or afternoon tea. Check out their (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page Coochiemudlo Island Coastcare. The Recrestionsl area in the centre of the island has tennis courts, cricket pitch, croquet and playground. There is fishing and many water sports. Ask about paddling with the outriggers.

As often or as little as you desire.

Visiting Coochiemudlo Island is like stepping back in time. When off shore the Island looks deserted because it is protected by the conservation area know locally as the 'Emerald Fringe'. The sandy bush beaches cover two thirds around the Island and the other third is covered by Mangroves. Guided walks and talks can be organised. It is difficult to find two houses the same and owners take pride in their individual gardens. These are refreshing changes from the mainland. It is well said by most that once you leave the mainland all your daily pressures slip away. There are no shops as such on the Island. Shop on the mainland before you come. Their is a small Kiosk for emergency goods. However, we are blessed by having an excellent restaurant 'Red Rock Cafe' owned by Michael & Coleen Morgan. It is well patronised by the locals.

The Island has a very active Coastcare and Bushcare groups. They meet once a month and tending various environmental jobs on the island. Visitors are welcome to join in and often their is a BBQ or morning or afternoon tea at the end of a couple of hours weeding or dune caring. Check out the Community notice board at the end of the Jetty or contact myself. Restoration tourism is the way to go.

Coochiemudlo Island is a 10 minute ferry or barge ride from the mainland at Victoria Point. Coochiemudlo Island, Australien · Mitglied seit Oktober 2015

I have had a home on Coochiemudlo Island for over 40 years. The island with its natural beauty is truly one of the best kept secrets in SE Queensland. Near by Redland Bay was the home of my grandparents who fished in the bay with hand made nets and sold their daily catch to local residents. Whilst I have also spent many years living and working abroad I have always called Coochie home. Near by Brisbane was my birth place. My husband is Scottish and we also maintain a home in Scotland which we visit often. Gardening is our passion and we have an extensive Australian Native garden with an Amphitheatre and billabong on Coochiemudlo Island which we make available for others to use. In Scotland our garden has over 170 roses and other cold climate plants. We look forward to welcoming you to Coochiemudlo Island.
