Welcome to Casa de Arte, a newly restored colonial located between San Sebastian and La Ermita – historical barrios in centro Mérida. The home was renovated around the owners’ diverse collection of art and reflects their contemporary aesthetic.
Urban chic meets colonial Mexico at Casa de Arte. The high ceilings, restored pasta tile floors and multiple skylights create a loft-like ambiance where one room flows into the next, all on one level. The well-appointed kitchen is made for cooking, and the live-edge dining table seats 6 comfortably. Open the wide terrace doors and invite the garden in, which is as beautiful at night as it is during the day.
The lush and colourful outdoor living space is almost as large as the house, with a large pool, sunken poolside dining table for 6, covered outdoor terrace with comfy seating, and chaises to catch the sun, the moon or the stars.

As an artist and writer respectively, my husband Ric and I are so inspired by Mérida and the Yucatan. We hope you fall in love with the culture as much as we have. We moved here from Canada in 2013 and enjoy travelling around the Yucatan and other parts of Mexico. We have a casita in Manzanillo we love to spend time at but Merida is home. Mérida is both a small town and a big city, constantly surprising us with its vibrant cultural personality—from food truck festivals to hip restaurants, symphony to samba dancing, museums to mescalerias. A walk to the square for ice cream can easily turn into an impromptu night of salsa and salbutes. Whether you stay in town or escape to the surrounding beaches, haciendas, mayan ruins and cenotes— we hope to be a great part of your experience.
