Although we are avid music lovers, this is a quiet , low volume home due to our busy days, we highly value coming home to a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, perfect if you want to study or get some work done, guest are encouraged to keep entertainment noise contained to their perspective room, with volume low or use headphones, in particular during the weekdays! The room is down a flight of stairs and separated from the rest of the house by a curtain. There is no door, only this curtain. Additional privacy can be added by a room divider that is set up for you at the foot of staircase/ entrance to the room. You will have privacy but no sound barrier, meaning if we are on the main floor/ kitchen you will hear us and we will hear you. This might be an issue if you are a light sleeper or extremely value a sound barrier. There maybe two or three people living in the home at the time of your stay. Weekdays, we get up around 630am and will be busy in the kitchen making some noise with breakfast and getting ready to head out for the day, the home will be silent after 730am when we leave for the day. I promise the noise in kitchen will only last a few minutes. Due to an elementary school being a few doors down, the children playing recess outside can be heard during the day. Other than that, its a pretty quiet home. We have a very spoiled guinea pig on 2nd floor, if you are allergic please let us know so we will not bring him out of his cage or downstairs. He lives most of his life on the 2nd floor so your allergy should not flare up during your stay here.

-If you need an ODD HOUR early check-in, late check-out or luggage storage, I am flexible with times but let's discuss before completing reservation. Your room may still be in use by previous guest and I need time to make it clean and ready for you! -Please be mindful of loud cell phone use and electronics in common areas, if you are in a common area such as kitchen or front room, and must answer your phone, you must ALSO leave the area and complete your conversation in your room. No one else here wants to hear your conversation!! It is very rude to have a phone conversation while someone else in the room is preparing their food, eating at the table or simply just wants to chill in the same room. In particular I ask for Absolutely NO talking on phone in bathroom and NO SPEAKER PHONE conversations in the home. Speaker phone conversation are extremly loud and can heard through the entire home. Please use headphones for all electronics in common areas.

-Food that is stored in the fridge or cupboards needs to be inside a closed container with a lid, do NOT store open containers or plates of food in fridge, your food will be THROWN OUT! I have glassware you can borrow, but you must buy your own foil or saran warp if that is the way you wish to store your food. Storing your food in an improper manner causes foul odor and a mess, hence this rule!

-There is a fee for laundry services, using washer and laundry is two dollars fee per load. please leave the cash in the tin box that is labeled to the right of the washer. I am a parent myself and do apologies for the rules with children and pets but I need to keep the home suitable with low maintenance for future guest.
-If you break or damage something, please notify me immediately, I do understand accidents happen, but it is extremely offensive to withhold this information from your host

I am professional in the Women's health field. I have both an undergrad and graduate degree from the College of Nursing at UIC. I work in a local Healthcare Center.

I enjoy Bikram yoga, jogging, photography, traveling, art walks, and I am a complete MUSIC NERD, listening to records, love live music, will travel long distance even out of country for a show or favorite musician.....
Before the airbnb era, I often house swapped, couch surfed, traded room& board for a service, used other popular websites to find room rentals, etc!

My partner is paraprofessional in the library science field. He works in a near suburban public library. He is fluent in Spanish. He is also a professional musician, plays guitar and bass. Chicago Native
He enjoys reading, writing, biking, jogging, cooking, traveling and yes he is also a music nerd.
We both have traveled extensively, having been to several countries outside of North America, we most often prefer the comfort of a home when away, rather than a posh hotel. For both economical and sustainable reasons, most of these travels have been on a budget, in which we prefer to defer the big tourist hot spots, and spend our money in local communities. Live like a local is our travel motto!!
So far we have hosted a very diverse array of guests: medical & nursing students, people here for internships, work projects, railroad engineers, vacationers, last minute get-away trips, road trip pit stops, stranded at the airport, music festival junkies, the list goes on, feel free to add yourself to the list!! Our longest airbnb reservation was for an international graduate student who stayed 8 months as she awaited her work visa to be approved, while working as an accountant at a manufacturing company a few miles away from our home. Our shortest airbnb reservations are one nighters who sometimes just want a few hours of sleep or rest while stranded or waiting on a flight from midway airport, but even ohare airport has provided us some lovely guest as well!
