Built in 1903 and restored with original woodwork, refinished oak and pine wood floors, the 8-bedroom Spruce Hill House is meticulously maintained so that you have a comfortable and luxurious living environment. The multitude of large common areas make for a casual and interactive living environment, to supplement your own spacious private quarters. Wireless internet is available throughout the house.
You first enter the house into the living room, with beautiful wainscoting, wood beams, fireplace and a built-in window seat. The well-stocked large kitchen has ample counter and cabinet space, two refrigerators, a gas stove, a microwave, a dishwasher and a garbage disposal. This kitchen was built to accommodate multiple chefs and to prepare delicious food. Holiday feasts are house traditions, and you are welcome to participate. The dining room is where everyone tends to gather. The large table can accommodate up to 10 people. It is a great space to work or socialize.
The lower level (basement) lounge with bamboo flooring is perfect for groups of friends and houses an entertainment system with a huge 120" projection screen. Also downstairs is the laundry room with a washer and dryer you are free to use. The backyard and garden are great for BBQs on the gas grill or just to hang out in the sun.

My partner and I live right next door, so although I am not in the house, I am very close by in case of any emergency. I am in and out of both houses often. I love learning more about every guest, so I welcome interactions any time I am over there! And of course, I am always available to you by Airbnb message, text, phone or email. I work from 2 to 6 in the neighborhood, and cannot be reached then, but my partner can often respond during that time.
The other members of the household may interact more with you, as many of them are very social and friendly.
No smoking inside the house.
Please turn down the noise at a reasonable hour. That is probably about 11 at our house, but it is mostly a quiet and respectful house at all times.
If you have an issue with anyone in the house, please let me know.
If you are unsure of how something works (i.e. an appliance in the kitchen, the light switches, locks, etc.) ask me or someone in the house. We are all happy to help.
Please do not eat any food or drink that you did not buy/bring yourself.
If you use any dishes or cookware please wash it as soon as possible or put it in the dishwasher. We want to keep the sink clear if possible.
If you do not know how to clean a cast iron pan, please do not use ours, as it can rust if it gets too wet.
Please make sure the doors close properly when you come and go, and please do not leave them open, as we do not want to let the cats out.
I can't think of anything else, so please, make yourself at home!

Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, I now find myself in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania living in a beautiful house in a wonderful neighborhood. I recently moved here from NYC to get away from the crazy bustle and never-ending crowds of people. Here, I can feel part of a lively community where neighbors talk to each other and plants can be grown! I feel so at ease and home here and hope that my guests feel this is a home and not just a place to sleep.
Even though I love traveling and have often gone to other countries, I find myself now wanting to be a good host to others while staying put myself. I love the idea of welcoming people from all over and sharing my city and neighborhood with new connections. I want to make your stay as comfortable as possible, so please let me know what kind of stay you are hoping for here at Spruce Hill House.
Looking forward to meeting you!
