Located at the foot of the Quantock Hills, within the curtilage of Gothelney Hall (a beautiful Grade I listed farmhouse, family home and working farm), the Stableblock is a recently and lovingly restored space which can accommodate up to 4 people for cosy, romantic & family friendly retreats in the heart of the countryside. Eat, Drink, Do.
In the heart of the English countryside and at the foot of the Quantock Hills, Gothelney Hall and the land on which it stands has been settled on as far back as 1026. Referenced "Godelege" (Good Meadow) in the Doomsday Book, and renamed "Gothelney" ('open fields') in Anglo Saxon times the land here has been farmed for over a thousand years.
Its current guardians, we are in the midst of a process of renovation of the Hall and its outbuildings, the Stable Block being the most recent (and completed) example. We offer its spacious, yet warm and characterful environment for your exclusive use during your stay.
Zugang für Gäste
Guests have exclusive access to The Stableblock for the entirety of their stay, although the main meeting and utility rooms will be locked (access by arrangement).
We would ask guests to check in between 12 and 5pm & checkout by 11am, although we may be able to be flexible, please ask.
Interaktion mit Gästen
We look forward to welcoming you warmly, and sharing with you our experience of the local area. Somerset and it neighboring counties has so much to explore. We are on hand to offer as much or as little advice as you like.
Breakfast is available, although at an extra charge & by prior arrangement - a well appointed kitchen is available for your use and we are happy to put together a hamper using produce from right here on the farm.
Although we live on site, we intend for our guests to have as private and independent stay as they desire.
Weitere wichtige Infos
We have a ready supply of logs and kindling if you wish to relax by either of the Stableblock's wood burners. If your stay is longer or more exerting, we are happy to open the utility room for clothes washing. On the farm there are dogs and other animals.
One of the bedrooms is more of a mezzanine set up rather than private bedroom, which hasn't been a problem for our guests so far, but it might not suit everyone.
No Pets or Smoke inside the building please, and we would ask our guests to leave the facilities in a similar state as they found them at the start of their stay.
