Enjoy this rustic 1950's bungalow, nestled in the heart of wine country and farm land. Centrally located, between the towns of Carlton, Dundee & McMinnville-each offering their own charms. The house is situated on a 120 acres of forest and farmland.
The farmhouse offers guests the entire main floor-including two bedrooms (one with a queen/the other a double), one full bathroom, kitchen with full sized stove and refrigerator, living and dining rooms. Enjoy the covered front porch, two private side garden areas with seating. Parking area for two cars. We provide complimentary coffee, half & half, sugar, tea and a half dozen eggs from our flock. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cooking pans and utensils. (Plus salt, pepper & olive oil.) We do have one small freestanding AC unit, that does a reasonable job of keeping the main living areas cool and there are fans in each of the bedrooms as well.

The second story and basement levels of the farmhouse are closed off at this time.
We live in the neighboring house on the property and share a driveway. We are happy to give you a quick tour of the property to show which areas are okay to wander in. There are certain sections that have electric fences/gates to keep the chickens in, so we prefer folks not wander around without a bit of orientation. There are nearby woods and a winery that can be reached with a good walk. We also don't recommend this property for children due to the danger of the electric fences or an unfortunate run-in with a blackberry vine or patch of poison oak.

We do live on the property full-time and are often at home, tending to the gardens and other projects. We aim to keep our noisier projects like mowing to a minimum while we have guests, but sometimes the weather or our own time constraints dictate when we need to tend to those tasks.
We welcome conversations with our guests, but also are happy to let guests enjoy the privacy & tranquility of the property. We will post our cell numbers in the farmhouse and texting is great for us, if there are any questions throughout your stay.
There are three outdoor cats (Chive, Fen & Tiger Lily) who also live on the property and a small flock of chickens. We find them all quite charming, but the cats are very inquisitive and friendly, so if you are not a cat person, you may find them to be annoying. The chickens don't make too much noise and their 'yard' comes right up to the farmhouse, so you can have easy viewing of them. (We did have a rooster, but his frequent crowing was getting on everyone's nerves-so now it's just the hens.) Additionally, thru the months of April-June (give or take) our surrounding farmland is inhabited by a large herd of 100% Certified Organic Jersey cows, who are a joy to observe. When you drive onto the property, they all walk over to the edge of the fence to say "hello". (Needless to say, the occasional aroma of manure can also be detected floating through the air.)
Weitere wichtige Infos
At this time we don't offer wifi or TV. We do get reasonable cell service and you may certainly use your data or bring along a hot spot. Remember, you're in the country...we encourage guests to enjoy the pastimes of yore; woodland walks, reading, human-to-human conversation, listening to music, playing games, coloring. The 'entertainment center' is stocked with engaging board/card games, a vintage record player and records, art coloring books and colored pencils, a selection of books and lovely gardens to enjoy.
Throughout the summer and early fall, the cows/fields occasionally are being tended to with farm equipment that is generally interesting to observe and adds to the charm of a country stay. A few days out of the year, however (exact dates unknown) there are multiple loads or organic manure that are spread onto the fields; these few days are our least favorite time of year to live out in the country as the smell can be intense when you are trying to enjoy the outdoors. Inside the house seems protected. If your stay happens to overlap with this time period, we will be sure to throw some 'extras' in to make up for the annoyance. Oh, the joys of the country.
Please no smoking or pets of any kind.
The wood stove is ONLY available for use with permission and a tutorial from us.
Please be diligent about not letting our 3 farm cats into the house, at all: they are strictly outdoor cats.
We do live on the property in a separate house and are often home tending to the gardens & general projects. We make an effort to be respectful to our guests' personal space and we request the same of ours-although we are certainly happy to answer questions or visit if we're around.
Kevin & I have lived on this wonderful piece of land for over a decade.
Kevin is a retired builder/contractor and spends his days, fixing things, mowing, fishing, visiting his granddaughters and tending to the songbirds, flock of chickens and cats at our place. I am a plant nut and am happiest out in the garden, listening to podcasts and drinking coffee. Most of my work has been plant related and I am presently taking a sabbatical and just tending to things at home. I am also working on very slowly gaining proficiency in cello, fiddle, jazz piano and tenor guitar.
