An old winery from 1850, renovated to a warm and comfortable country house located on the side of Mount Etna with a breathtaking view of the east coast of Sicily. Ideal for a quiet get away, for nature lovers...half way to the sea and the vulcano!
In Puntalazzo, a small village in the municipality of Mascali (CT), 600 m. over the sea, it was built in 1850 with lava rock, a charming typical winery of Etna, where grapes were treaded and the juice flowed down to the barrels, with the view of Mount Etna from the west and the Ionian Sea in to the east, at the crossroads of natural and archaeological tourist routes, of the island.
Now, restored to leave the visual memory of what was, it is a haven in a green oasis with olive grove, orchard and grove. It is accessed by a private gate, along a tree-lined avenue from the SP98 S.Alfio-Puntalazzo (Camello alley). Comfortable and reserved parking.
With eight beds, distributed among: the top floor of the winery (wide studio flat, complete with kitchenette and bathroom with shower); two other bedrooms, full bathroom with shower, large living room with fireplace and sofas, dining area, breakfast nook around the old winepress and adjoining kitchen, covered patio and large roof garden. My name is Sofia and I’m a worldwide traveler, I love to learn from different culture, explore historic and naturalistic sites but even after crossing the United States from coast to coast and traveled around Europe from north to south…I’m always attracted back home to the beautiful and magical island where I was born. At the bottom of Mount Etna (the largest active volcano in Europe), by the Ionian sea with its variety of rocky and sandy beaches, surrounded by the smell of orange and lemon orchards, by the taste of local food and great wine and by the sound of fisherman’s villages. From the Greeks, through the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Normans, French and Spanish, to the Bourbons, relics of these ages remain, with temples, theatres and churches scattered about the whole island. I love this place and I want to share it with you.
