Golden Moon is a stunning, newly completed luxury retreat co-created by sculptor/photographer Heidi Hornberger and villa designer, Ida Bagus Oka Genijaya. This uniquely artistic property is comprised of a large main house (1 bedroom), a separate self-contained bungalow or second bedroom, a huge kidney shaped pool, and a large “bale” used as a pool side gazebo or an open-air yoga/art studio.

Der Wohnraum

It rests on a ten “are” (11,000 sq ft) piece of land at the end of a small driveway off a quiet village road. It can be rented as a private compound or each house can be rented separately with shared pool and bale. Located in the wood-carvers village of Mas, just a few kilometers south of Ubud (the art and cultural center of Bali), this tranquil retreat is ideal for long or short stays.

What is so special about Golden Moon is that countless artists and craftsmen have added their creative gifts to every aspect of the compound. We invite you to explore and discover the artistic contributions that abound and to experience the magic of this exceptional property.

MAIN HOUSE (138 meters sq/1500 sq ft): Soaring six meter high cathedral ceilings. Etched marble floors. Custom, solid teak furniture through out. Decorated with sculptures and enlarged photos of Bali by the owner/artist. Unique lighting includes hammered copper fixtures plus lamps made from antique carved wooden furniture.

Great Room and large terrace on the front offer views overlooking the pool and garden. Three glass panels slide out of sight during the day to create an open-air living room, but can be easily closed and locked at night. Living room with large L-sofa, 57” TV, hand-carved Suar root coffee table with curved glass top. Marble half bath off living room with exterior access to pool. Fully equipped kitchen with stunning green granite counter tops, solid teak cabinets, curved island with gas cooktop and bar stools, panty, large view windows out the back to tropical ravine. Dining room with hand-carved Suar dining table (seats 8), sliding doors to stone patio with carved shrine for daily offerings.

Romantic Master Bedroom offers oversized king bed and canopy, sliding glass doors on each side for cross breeze, views overlooking pool on front and tropical ravine on back, front terrace with lounge chairs, sofa and coffee table, curved teak desk for inspired writing. Master bathroom offers all marble floors and walls, indoor shower plus lava stone outdoor shower, over-sized free-standing bathtub for two with wall-of-glass view to enclosed garden, one-of-a kind carved marble sink in a nautilus shell design.

BUNGALOW OR SECOND BEDROOM (52 meters sq/550 sq ft): Distinctive five meter high cathedral ceilings, etched marble floors, solid teak furniture, and decorated with enlarged photos by owner/artist. Covered front terrace for out door living with sofa, coffee table, marble dining table for four and view of the pool. Bedroom with king size bed and romantic canopy, desk for inspired writing, TV, air-con, fan, screening, large wardrobe. (King bed can be separated into two twins. Nutzerprofil von Ida Bagus Oka

Hi! My name is Oka and I am a villa designer and artist from Bali, Indonesia. For many years I travelled around America and the Carribean working on cruise ships, but now I have settled back home in Bali with my wife Dayu and my son Gustu. As a young boy I was a woodcarver and pottery designer and have since combined my interests in art and hospitality to design unique villas around Bali. My family is also of the Brahman, priestly caste in Bali, and I grew up learning about all of the unique and intricate aspects of Balinese culture, religion, and art from my father. In addition to being passionate about creating unique villas and art, I am also passionate about sharing information about my home-- the island of the gods-- Bali. I was once hired to do a Canadian National Geographic-like program called Departure indonesia season 3- Ring of fire and Departure indonesia season 3- A home away. You can look me up in these films!
I can't wait to share with you! -Oka
