Wild, secluded and with spectacular scenery, Alauzon is a collection of four rental properties (and our home) on 12 hectares of land surrounded by hills and forests.
The Studio is a charming and practical space with spectacular scenery through the windows on three sides.
Highlights are the stunning natural pool, a big playground for kids of all ages, walking and biking trails from your doorstep, great food from local producers and the Provence sunshine. Mountain bike hire is available on site.
The Studio is a modern, self-contained, independent apartment with all modern conveniences (coffee machine, toaster, microwave oven, conventional oven, refrigerator, WIFI). A shaded picnic table is outside the front door next to a small grove of trees. A comfortable double bed is located up a steep set of stairs on the mezzanine level. Additionally, a double sofa bed is located in the living area along with a dining table and four chairs. The bathroom has a shower, sink, toilet and heated towel rail.
The Studio is pleasant year-round. Situated above the boiler room it stays warm in the winter. In summer it stays relatively cool due to being well-ventilated (five windows).
At Alauzon we aim to use our natural resources as efficiently as possible. We live very much in tune with our environment. Our water comes from our well and heated using solar panels. In winter, we have a modern wood-fired stove to power the central heating. We treat our wastewater on site using plant filtration beds.
Our guests love the panoramic views from the property which make you feel like you’re alone in the middle of wilderness. The property is on 13 hectares with a great diversity of geology and ecosystems. We are particularly well suited for families (large playground, no roads) and sporty types (hiking, mountain and road biking, climbing, via ferrata).

Weitere wichtige Infos
A headtorch is very useful here as it gets very dark at night!
Please read the directions carefully (Getting Around) so that you don’t end up on the forest tracks! We don’t recommend following sat nav from Buis-les-Baronnies. We can email you a map and directions.
Travelling with children? We can help! We can provide a travel cot, baby bath and high chair. We have two children and we know what it's like to travel with the little ones, so don't worry if you forget to pack something, we can help you out.
Drinking water: Water from our well is filtered on site (physical and UV filter). However, there remains a high fluoride count (the stuff you get in toothpaste). There are no ill effects from drinking it for a short period of time or cooking with it. We will provide you with a large container of drinking water (‘eau potable’) from the village springs which you may refill at Les Sias or La Roche-sur-le-Buis (next to the town hall).

Pool: Three rules for the pool. 1. The pool gate MUST remain closed at all times. We have two young children who can’t swim. 2. It’s a natural swimming pool (no chlorine) using plant filtration- please rinse off before jumping in to help keep the water clean. 3. Animals aren’t permitted in the pool area as they may contaminate the pool.
[Piscine: Trois règles à respecter. 1.
Compost/Recycling/Rubbish: There are compost bins in the kitchen area. Citrus fruit peels and meat/fish shouldn’t be placed in here. Guests should empty the compost bins in our compost area. A bin for sorting our recycling is provided. Rubbish and recycling should be taken by guests to the nearest collection point in the hamlet of Les Sias- there is no household collection in our region. Bags are provided. Finally- please don’t leave food out as this will attract rodents, foxes, ants, etc…
Wastewater: All wastewater is treated by plant filtration so only human waste and toilet paper may be flushed down the toilet. Tampons, pads, wet wipes and anything else should be disposed in the toilet bin.
[Eaux usées : Les eaux usées sont traités par phyto-épurations (plantes). Ne jettez rien (sauf papier toilette) dans les WC- une poubelle est prévu pour toute autre déchets (tampax, lingettes, etc. ).]
Internet Access: We provide internet access in the Bunkhouse, Studio and Bergerie properties via our satellite connection. We ask that guests limit their use of the internet to emails and regular surfing so that everyone can enjoy reasonable access. Please do not try to play online games, stream content or download large files (such as updates, for example). If you are having problems with the internet access let us know.

I was the Managing Director of The Castle Climbing Centre in London for ten years. I'm really into climbing and won three national championships while in the UK (2006- Bouldering, 2008- Leading & Bouldering). I'm also into cycling (both mountain and road).
My parents are French, but I grew up in the States (Chicago) so I'm bilingual French-English. I lived in London for 14 years before fulfilling my lifelong dream of moving to the South of France in August 2014.
I have two young children- Raphael (5) and Caspian (2). My husband, Adrian Berry, is also a climber and mountain biker. You can read more about him on his website:
