-If you need an early check-in, late check-out or luggage storage, I am flexible with times but let's discuss before completing reservation. Your room may still be in use by previous guest and I need time to make it clean and ready for you! Dear Instant book guest and SAME DAY BOOKERS, if you make your reservation after MIDNIGHT, most likely I am asleep and will not respond till normal waking hours. Please be patient for reply and understand that access to enter the home is not immediate.
-Weekdays, no noise and quiet is needed after 10pm. We rise early for our workdays. Please be considerate. The walls are very thin and noise travels through the vents, please keep volume down and use bedroom voices after 10pm.
-Weekends, no noise after midnight.
-No noise before 9am on weekends or holidays.
-Noise and conversations must be contained in your room, This is a peaceful quiet house, therefore please be extra considerate at all times with regards to your volume level. No loud conversations, no loud TV, no loud music, no yelling, no heckling, no cackling! All electronics must be used with headphones in common areas. This includes TV, videos, radio from your phone. Other people live here , please remember that!
-Your Clock Alarm can be heard through the whole house, please turn it off once it goes off the first time. Hitting snooze and allowing your alarm to repeatedly go off is very disturbing and rude, other people live here and may not have the same schedule.
-NO JUMPING FROM LOFT BED OR LOFT BED LADDER!!!
-Please be mindful of loud cell phone use in common areas, if you are in a common area such as kitchen or front room, and must answer your phone, you must ALSO leave the area and complete your conversation in your room. No one else here wants to hear your conversation!! It is very rude to have a phone conversation while someone else in the room is preparing their food, eating at the table or simply just wants to chill in the same room. In particular I ask for Absolutely NO talking on phone in bathroom and NO SPEAKER PHONE conversations in the home. Speaker phone conversation are extremely loud and can be heard through the entire home.

-Your bathroom is shared, be courteous with time! do not hang out in bathroom for phone use and other non-bathroom activities. Doing laundry in bathroom is NOT permitted, laundry needs to be done in laundry room. If you are a long term guest with a scheduled day for laundry , and you missed your laundry day, please talk to me about rescheduling, or go wash your laundry at the laundry mat, there are several in the immediate neighborhood.
-ONLY TOILET PAPER in the TOILET, anything else for example, sanitary napkins, tampons, q- tips, cotton balls, hair balls/shavings please dispense in trash. -Please clean up after yourself in the kitchen immediately after use! this includes the sick, stove, counter-tops, table, fridge and floor of kitchen. Dirty items left on counter-tops or table, brings in hoards of ants and other unwanted insects.
-Food that is stored in the fridge or cupboards needs to be inside a closed container with a lid, do NOT store open containers or plates of food in fridge, your food will be THROWN OUT! I have glassware you can borrow, but you must buy your own foil or saran warp if that is the way you wish to store your food. Storing your food in an improper manner causes foul odor and a mess, hence this rule!
-There is a fee for laundry services, using washer and laundry is two dollars fee per load. please leave the cash in the tin box that is labeled to the right of the washer. Long term guest will have a slightly different fee arrangement. If you want someone to do your laundry for you, I can arrangement that as well with an additional charge. Let's talk before using the washer and dryer.
-Long Term guest: anyone staying for twenty eight days or more, are required to pay for extra cleaning service or agree to maintain the cleanliness of their space during their stay. Note the the payment for cleaning with booking is a one time fee that is not substantial if you staying long term.

-The home is not child proof, please keep a mindful eye on your child and do not let them wander into unattended rooms of the home. We cannot accommodate your child if they cannot sleep through the night, have bed wetting issues or behavioral problems. I am a parent myself and do apologies for the rules with children and pets but I need to keep the home suitable with low maintenance for future guest
-If you break or damage something, please notify me immediately, I do understand accidents happen, but it is extremely offensive to withhold this information from your host
-Remember this is my home, and NOT a hotel
-Break the rules, you risk the reservation being canceled. which means you will be required to leave.

Before the airbnb era, I often house swapped, couch surfed, traded room& board for a service, used other popular websites to find room rentals, etc!

He enjoys reading, writing, biking, jogging, cooking, traveling and yes he is also a music nerd.
We both have traveled extensively, having been to several countries outside of North America, we most often prefer the comfort of a home when away, rather than a posh hotel. For both economical and sustainable reasons, most of these travels have been on a budget, in which we prefer to defer the big tourist hot spots, and spend our money in local communities. Live like a local is our travel motto!!
So far we have hosted a very diverse array of guests: medical & nursing students, people here for internships, work projects, railroad engineers, vacationers, last minute get-away trips, road trip pit stops, stranded at the airport, music festival junkies, the list goes on, feel free to add yourself to the list!! Our longest airbnb reservation was for an international graduate student who stayed 8 months as she awaited her work visa to be approved, while working as an accountant at a manufacturing company a few miles away from our home. Our shortest airbnb reservations are one nighters who sometimes just want a few hours of sleep or rest while stranded or waiting on a flight from midway airport, but even ohare airport has provided us some lovely guest as well!
